My first VW was a baja I drove it QLD with a mate and for two weeks slept in it that was 10 years ago.
This winter I was invited to work in thredbo for almost three months, accomodation is expensive and hard to come by so I removed my passenger seat and cut up a piece of foam to fit the back of my type 3 wagon, I slept and changed clothes in there for 95% of the time, showering at friends, and eating takaway. A nice big doona kept me warm, while a small gas stove was enough to heat up my weet bix each morning. Most mornings I had a layer of frost on all the interior but all up it was a pretty good experiance especially as I saved a hell of alot of $$.

I asume most Kombi owners have done similar but has anyone used there cars as accomodation.

I try to stay on the good side of my missus so I don't have to sleep in my car!

Me and my lady slept in a Laser Gia one night somewhere on the Great O R side of Melbourne, they reckon once a night is enough, never did believe that one but sure reckon one night sleepn in a Laser is enough.

awesome. have done that a few times in my type3, not so organised though - boot full of luggage so sleep upright in front seat or across back seat, not so comfortable.

I curled up on the backseat of my notch once. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!! I wouldn't even entertain the thought of sleeping in a beetle or a Ghia!
Got me a squareback now so leg room is a bit more ample. Still, nothing beats the bench seat on my 64 Falcon. Ultimate drive in cruiser (except no heater - just the ticket to fog up those windows real nice like!)

me and a mate once slept in my cadillac at a car show it the uk, it was easy, the seats were that big we could lie across each seat, ahh the joy of bench seats and big cars!!

I've slept in the Baja a couple of times when the Swag no longer kept the water out and I dived into the car. The handbrake was a pain but I figured it out. Now we take a tarp along so the swag has a little extra protection from driving rain. Now were in a drought it hasnr been an issue.

My Ex and I had a kombi and folk festivals and camping with the pop top was a regular weekend afffair. We'd throuw a dart at Queensland and go and have a look.

I love sleeping in cars. The Drop Bear Baja is set up full time now so all I need to do is put in some milk, bread, a change of clothes and some snacks. Collect firewood along the way and throw it in under the bonnet.

Ive slept in the Kombi a couple of times needless to say being a camper... The Trakka RnR bed is the most comfortable thing short of a rfull size bed that you can find.

Just make sure you park on a downhill slope tho if you sleep with head at the back, or on an uphill slope if you sleep with ya head near the sliding door... sleeping upside down feels very very sketchy. :puke:

slept in my VN Commonwhore wagon once before I owned the Kombi... was fairly comfy with the seat waaaay bagk, but still has nothing on a camper.

I slept on the vinyl back seat of a convertable beatle, with the top down, right on the beach in sweltering heat up at Cairns many years ago. Man was that uncomfortable... And cramped... I'm 5'10" and solidly built, so I was bigger than the Beetle. I reckon in hindsight, it would have been more comfortable if the BUG slept in ME...

I once fell asleep on the back seat of my fasty, I was outside playing with dads kombi but I got tired so I went and had a lay down :P it was pretty comfy, but I dunno if Id wanna sleep in there for an extended period of time

yeah i regulary sleep in the T4, either at work on night shift if i can have a few hours free or when i go to the beach, i go the night before so im there catchin the first waves of the morning in the dark..
plus we just spent 5 days camping in it upto rainbow beach and then to 1770 for a few days.. we also had our rotti 'banana' with us as well.. he loved it, twas a sweet holiday..
off to straddie in january will do it all again.. cant wait.. roll on holidays..

sleep in my wagon a lot! (even with the sub-boxes in the back lol)

have to curl up in the back seat...but those who know me, know i carry a blanket, a cutlery set, and various other items for those times you just cbf driving anywhere!

I only just slept in my Navara last Sunday night- driving home from WillowTree to Bris after picking up my Dads car (Volvo) on the trailer- couldnt see the point of a Motel for a couple of hours..

slept in the 57 Oval on the way to the 2003 Valla and back to Melbourne. Layed the front seats flat to try and make a sort of bed. Lumpy and very cramped thats for sure. But after many hours on the road I could have slept on the ground.

The last couple of Valla's I have gone the soft option with Motel stays.
