well lets start of my newb questions buy asking what year did the shape of he beetle change
or am i jsut imagining that a 69 looks slightly different to a 64

in 68 they introduced the "fat chick"

upright headligts
4 stud wheels, quite a few changes

LOL can u elaborate on the "fat chick"
LOL

killakornkobb - November 16th, 2006 at 08:28 PM

the "late" beetles 68 and on look wider, particularly in the rear, when you look at the decklid, i dont know if theyre actually wider though..

and the guards dont look as smooth, due to the upright headies

sean68 - November 16th, 2006 at 08:49 PM

pre 68 beetles had laid back headlights, blade type bumpers with towel rails and overriders and came with 1100, 1200, 1300cc engines
68 on had the upright headlights, square bumpers and have 1500 and 1600cc engines
also 67 US and european spec beetles had the upright headlights

Early bugs look slim, fit and sexy. Later ones look like a fat chick in bike shorts. Takes a special kind of guy to really love one.:P

Hi Valkyrie,

Try this useful link http://www.volkswarenhaus.de/bugselecta.htm

Aussie cars were some 2 years behind when the change from slim and sexy to fat chick was made. Viva the slim and sexy!
