poraga or is it a porerra???
fenrayer - December 30th, 2006 at 09:51 AM
okay i know you guys hate having ebay listing put up here but i was curious as to what you guys thought
this car is now on ebay again as its reserve wasn,t met for the second time , and I did email him/her as i believe its a porerra and not a poraga as
it has a porrera front end
He is selling it as a original poraga , it cant be original if it has a porerra front end
what do you guys reckon ???

The pictures have the car shown with "PORAGA" decals on the side and bonnet. It would be reasonable to assume the owner believes it to be a Poraga
and to sell it as such. What it's model designation, and what parts are on it are up to the buyer to confirm.

I know one thing for sure
I wontr be bidding on it LOL :puke:puke
amazeer - December 30th, 2006 at 12:29 PM
how could it be an original poraga OR porrera when orignally it was a 1966 beetle? Either way, if he had spent $20,000 without hacking the roof off,
leaving it as a stock 1966 volkswagen he would easily get a $6500 opening bid. And all the cars that turn heads in Wollongong beaches have airbrushing
and 4500W subwoofers. You could drive a real porsche convertable down there and the only head turning would be the tarts flicking hair off their
faces. Certainly a lot different from when I was a teenager, all you needed then was a white VK with dragway mags.
I live in Wollongong and have never seen it, mustnt get driven too often. He needs to learn how to spell porsche as well
68AutoBug - December 30th, 2006 at 02:19 PM
Its listed as Left Hand Drive????
and 1900L porche - sabb - bettle -
Porsche - SAAB - Beetle -
I looked at all pics.... still ugly....
I wonder why a 1966 chassis??
4 stud wheels??
Maybe early headlamps would have looked better..??

i have the brochure for the porrera and it stated the porerra is the 911 carrera style and the poraga is the 930 slant nose style
I am confused , i guess at some time for whatever reason the front end was replaced

Carerra Kit was different to the Porerra... The carerra is a bolt on kit, but the Porerra needs the centre of the roof cut out and a fibreglass piece
put in to flatten the roof more like a 911. And the guards etc were glassed onto the body for a smooth effect again to make it look more like a 911
ian.mezz - December 31st, 2006 at 04:31 PM
so a old porerra would have all the common rust spots in them like the average beetle but you couldnt see it beccause the fibre class is holding it
together.:P:P

Im liking the idea of the guards being glass'ed on .. i have no roof to worry about rust spots in the pillars too

I had part of that kit on my first 76 which was mod'ed in the late 80's. Kit was bought from Volkspares in Qld somewhere, but i don't think they
exist anymore. I also recall there being a copyright dispute over the moulds or design of the kit.
jacky_moo - April 14th, 2010 at 05:52 PM
heheh someone get one of these!!
zayus - April 16th, 2010 at 11:01 PM
F#@!, they are horrible looking!
Joel - April 17th, 2010 at 06:43 PM
im pretty sure that particular porrera was a coca-cola prize car from the late 80s
it astounds me that there were people out there not embarrased to be seen driving it
looks vaguely like a porsche to the untrained eye, with a 1600 with a DCN and 4 wheel drums stops and goes like a vw.... winner
