does anyone know if it is cheaper to import rubbers or buy them locally. i'm thinking about basically all the rubbers for a 6V beelte not just a few window rubbers.

cheaper to go abroad, we did with cip.com, not only do they have everything is stock but it is so much cheaper that it more then covers the postage.

i usually get my rubbers from 7-11...

just on the subject of window rubbers what are better german or brazil ones and do you have to pay any taxes when buying parts from the USA

I always thought german rubbers were of a much higher quality, of course the price is directly associated with the quality. I use brazil rubbers only because I am on a super tight budget, when I can afford it I will replace them with german ones.

Wolfsburg West or West Coast Metric rubbers are about the nicest to fit.
The Polirubber (Brazil) ones feel nice when new, but dont last too long in the car and start to split etc.

You may have to pay GST and duty on the total amount including postage i customs check it out. Im not sure what shipping company CIP use, but most only use FedX or UPS, and they both have their own customs section, and anything over a couple of hundred is likely to get hit with the taxes and duty.

Its definately worth importing though if doing a whole car.
Tell customs its for a race car, and that will get you the lowest tax rate possible.

cip will give you all options, i.e tell you which is the better quality german or the cheaper brazilian.

I think it is time to say that german rubbers simply do not exist. Currently the best quality rubbers available are made in Thailand (as used on new Mercedes), but that is not to say that there is any problem with Brazilian rubbers either - I have used these on all of my cars without any problem at all, and wouldn't try for anything else. As for WCM rubbers and the like, well you would be surprised where they are made.

Im not at all surprised where any rubber products are made, my father worked for a rubber company for 30 years, supplying many auto manufacturers. India, Thailand,Philipines Vietnam and China are the biggest suppliers.
This is why im asking about German rubbers??? I dont see German rubbers anywhere.
I too have used Brasillian rubbers on many cars, but they do not fit as well, or last as long as the better quality ones. Polirubber window rubbers crack around the corners within 6-12 months.
Polirubber Cal kit - $40au.
WCM cal kit - $120au.
You get what you pay for. Some rubbers it really makes no difference, but window and door rubbers I prefer something that fits well and lasts.
Cheaper pan gaskets, engine bay seals etc are fine.
