I have found this forum to be really slow in the last few days. It takes anywhere from 20 to 65 seconds to load each page... which means it takes minutes, not seconds, simply to 'log on' and see who's chatting about what or selling whatever to whoever. Can anyone tell me why? Is it my fully virus-checked and defragged box running off cablse (doubt it)? Or is there some other reason? I can log on on three other forums in the time it takes to simply load the AVD home page...
I've been having the same problem for about 2 weeks now. Occasionally I get to read two threads before the whole thing crashes and puts up an error
message saying the host server is out of action. These technological shenannigans are pissing me off.....:alien

been having the same problem on and off for over a week, even goes as far as having an error page come up
:cussing
Ah! So it's not just me... yes, I've had the Error and Unavailable pages, too
i thought it was just my shitty dial up. is the site getting some work done on it, cos at times in the morning it says the site is "currently down" or something.
yep me too..
A typical night for me on aussieveedubbers.

NN,
I love that little figure u have...where can i get one...reminds me of big a (boyfriend) woudl love to get him one for xmas...
cheers
BeB
PS: I have broadband, and its slow here too. Also have the unavailable pages etc as well, BUT...may not only be here, as I am having it through out
system, and lots of sites....Big A is having same prob too...and he has firewalls galore.
Hehehe. Beb...Just a picture I had laying around my hard disk collecting dust. Funnily enough, I had to reload AVD 3 times just to reply. I have
found Firefox to be easier to access AVD with better success than internet explorer if this helps anyone. This bigpond broadband I am using is as
quick as that splitty off the TV ad doing a 1/4 mile. I guess they can't be sued for false advertising eh?

I'm on broadband, but AVDs is as slow as my old dialup and has been for a couple of weeks now.
i'm glad to know i'm not the only one... it has been driving me insane, more often than not i've been getting an error page.
yep.
slooow and keeps crashing, some pages load and some dont.
Hampsters in the server must need a feed.
me 2
:puke Wont's---slow---drops out---wont load atall---doesn't send email topic reply notifications---looses u2u's---
---Will's-- tell you faster than a rabbit reproduces if you put up a "deemed" negative post. --If of course its not deleted or locked first.
And I'm positive about that !!

is it the slow internet server fairy spreadly it's joy and frustration around again? :sandrine
On the possitive side this mob http://www.ipswichrotorcrew.com/phpBB3/ put up a site lateish last year which they recently upgraded they would be a pretty small membership site--I'm just guessin there--though I think they got a bit of a kickstart from ausrotary praps it may be worth the powers that be haveing a word with them the site's always slicker than cept when they had a couple of short downs whilst they first uploaded and then when they upgraded.
vBulletin &new hosting = +1 vote!

Gotta admit, the site is rather pacy today compared to normal. I'd better have a lie down and a cuppa soon as I'm dizzy from all the
excitement.
Great work guys. Cheers.

Who 'owns' the server that the SQL db is hosted on. Is it leased? Is it a Microsoft host OS? Is the server IBM?
IMHO, if SQL is causing the problem it's usually due to a lack of server memory, if it's not hosted on a cluster or stretch cluster. SQL needs
serious GRUNT to run smoothly. I've seen SQL databases double in size in a couple of hours due to a data error, and then they get REALLY out of
control. Of course, re-building the database can be a pain if you don't have fail-over redundancy. If it's clustered, a node has probably stopped
playing the game. I know a couple of SQL industry experts if our server admins want to ask any questions I can pass them on.
Yep.. wot he sed.
if it goes down for a while we have our back up forum schmo made last year

Keep up the good work Brad and Co.....back up to speed now!!!
No, I've been through five pages of posts on VolksZone in the same time as to make ONE POST on here... :cry
Great thanks must go to the admins who keep aussieveedubbers alive, I'll buy you a beer any day of the week.
Reminds me sometimes of our unnofficial service statement at work:
"We keep your systems running, despite your best efforts"
Cheers and thanks again to all involved.
