We made sure that the VW marque was on show at the Shannons Walk at the Philip Island Classic this long weekend. On a fine and sunny Saturday we had a Country Buggy, 56 Oval and my T3 KG. All these VW's created quite a bit of interest from the crowd. Thanks BugBoy and Dennis.
On Sunday we had my Ghia and an 11 Window Splitty Red Bus and a beautiful 23 Window Deluxe Splitty. Thanks Andrew and Greg.

Heres a pic of the Saturday. On Sunday the wind came up and the Pergola and all our merchandise nearly blew away to Tazzie. .

Was a huge turn out on the Sunday. The Tribute to Porsche ensured a huge turn out from these guys.

Heres a few pics.
1 - The VW stand
2 - 917
3 - 917 motor. whoo hoo

Here are some pics of my favs over the weekend.

1954 - 550 Carrera Panamericana - Quadcam. Spoke to the driver of this one in the pits prior to a race. Said it was a real handful on the track. Had to get a pic of me beside it. Probably never see this one again in Aussie on the track. Got some nice vid of this one too. I'll post it up on youtube.

Porsche GT1 - amazing. There was a guy with a Mazerati Merak in the next stand to ours who was racing in the same class as the GT1. Said was terrifying having that thing scream past.

Couple of pics of the best audio visual racing car on track over the weekend. De Tomaso Pantera. Running a Ford Cleveland V8 and just hammered past slower cars past the grand stand. Lost places in the twisty bits, but recovered them on the straight bits. The combination of Italian looks and big V8 sounds was amazing.

One more of the 917.

Last ones. This is the nicest racer and tow rig I saw over the weekend.

Dual Cab Splitty tow vehicle. Powered by 2.7ltr Type 4, Porsche brakes ect.

Towing a really nice 356 racer.

Top guy too. Based in Vic.

This is a great weekend for all car lovers. We (VW) will be involved in the Shannons Walk again for 2008. The Classic is an event well worth the drive down.

Here is some video shot during the weekend. The silver open wheeler at the end of the video is Porsches one and only venture into Formula 1 in 62. Pretty cool to see this car running.
