Congratulations Dangerous Dave - new all motor record!
Dasdubber - April 1st, 2007 at 08:45 AM

Big congrats to Dave Butler who won the Mini Jam All Motor class at Willowbank last night.

After consistently progressing through the rounds with extremely accurate racing (eg. 11.431 on 11.43 dial in), he went through to the final against a 14 second Honda. Both Dave and the Honda broke out but dave broke out by less (11.40 on 11.43 dial in) and therefore took the win!

His 11.40 set the new All Motor record - best MPH was around 117 (or 118 from memory) - I'd say there will be other updates in the drag section!

Well done as well to Rod, Morgan and Col for getting out there and racing. Rod's best was a 12.2, Col achieved an awesome 14.87 with his 1600! (must have been the group effort with weight reductions and streamling (aka masking tape)). Commiserations to Morgan who (I think) threw a rod through the case which ended his day early.

Well done Dave, was good to see you race again and take the win. Yes Morgan's bug throwing a rod wasn't good but these things happen, Rod's bug is always good to see in the flesh and down the qaurter, Cols car is just mad for what it does with the engine it has, must be all the colours having a weird thermal effect and disrupting the boundary layer of airflow over the car:P. Nah Damo - Col's advantage was his "90mph" race tape!

No 1600 category to my knowledge. Dave (or others) may be able to explain in more detail but all motor is just that (no power adders such as turbo/supercharger etc).

Capacity varied from col's 1600 to Rod's 2275 to Morgan's 2332 to Dave's 3 piece case 2.?L (can't recall details).

Being bracket racing it all depended on dial in....that is why Dave (11.43 dial in) was racing a Honda in the final (14.0 dial in)....this just reiterates what a lot of the guys already racing have been saying over and over:

"You don't have to be fast to race!" - Consistency is the key....but its all about just having fun. I'm keen to get the oval on the track as soon as I can because it looks like too much bloody fun to miss out on!

I say get more volksies on the track whether you are fast or slow!

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - April 1st, 2007 at 05:21 PM

Col's 1585 baby monster got plenty of attention with his stickered rear guards and multicolour paint job. Heard a few sniggers about the times he was doing then i told them the size of the engine and how much it roughly cost him and the snigger soon disappeared.

The funny thing was that the marshalls would come and tell Col when we were next to race after walking right past Dave, Rod and the other well known all motor competitors!!!!

What a top day...and what a top result for team Dangerous and team Col for that matter.

I've got to hand it to ya Dave, after crewing for ya for a while now you never seem to get too phased. Always happy to talk to anyone who wanders along and wants to talk volksies. As a matter of fact that goes for all of those who were out racing on the weekend. Great to catch up with everyone who was there, and although I haven't got a lot to add if you want to learn stuff about how to make a volksy go fast then these are the dudes.

As soon as I dissect my footage from 3 tapes, i'll stick some up on youtube.
