amazeer - April 6th, 2007 at 06:18 PM

Today I cleaned out the car (lancer) and decided to fit the e tag to the windscreen. .oO{ It would be easier to do with the mirror off} *twist yank* so now I have half of a mirror attached to the windscreen and half in my hand. What the hell do they glue mirrors on with these days? How do I get the remainder off the windscreen without breaking it?

go to any good auto parts joint and ask for the glue bloody good stuff

amazeer - April 6th, 2007 at 07:00 PM

heat gun? At bunnings in the paint section there is a glue solvent that will remove super glue etc.

luck dude, dont know you own strength!

Look at it this way.....when I worked at Bitsrmissin,we replaced the windscreen to fix this "problem"...hope you don't have to do the same:cry

Just get a new screen today as will save you stuffing around for 3 days before you break it anyway! Trust me.

the worst part is that I had an argument with the wife about letting her take the falcon for the weekend because I know she will trash it, it will come back filthy. now she is going to come back and have no rear view mirror.

This is already the 3rd windscreen in the car. The original one was replaced when the mirror fell off! still attached to the inner laminate of the screen. 6 weeks ago it was replaced for a crack due to flying stone... if I have to get another its going to be a very dark day.

I tried prying it off with screwdriver.. didnt work. I got stilsons and tried to twist it off, as hard as I could without freaking. Doesnt even LOOk like coming off. All it did was put big teeth marks in it. I cant believe that there is a glue strong enough to do that. How can it grip onto something that isnt porous???

This opens up a mine field of pranks.

bugeyedbabe - April 7th, 2007 at 03:49 PM

next time dont replace the windscreen...replace the car!

:P:P:P:P

and every woman knows...a good mans place is in the garage fixing the cars and the damage we ladies do to them.... hmm..explains y my car is not getting fixed...i need a good man! lol

amazeer - April 7th, 2007 at 06:25 PM

no no no.... unless you are advising to get a new lancer.

I have nearly as much devotion to the lancer badge as the VW badge.

bugeyedbabe - April 7th, 2007 at 06:49 PM

oh see...thn that is your REAL problem...u need some theraphy...and intervention perhaps....

repeat after me....."lancers are BAD cars...not good....baaaaaaaadddddddd"

:lol::lol::lol:

greedy53 - April 7th, 2007 at 06:56 PM

try talking to a windscreen fitting mob
or grind the stub as close to the screen as ya can than glue the new one under or near as you can

warb - April 7th, 2007 at 08:10 PM

use fuse wire behind it, to cut through the tape. then use some 3M UVB tape to put it back on, they use that stuff in large aircraft cause its lighter and stronger then rivets..

h - April 8th, 2007 at 12:15 AM

bitsahittys falcoons.. what has become of you squire.. karma comin to get ya..

Flintstones - April 8th, 2007 at 12:15 AM

I don't know mitsu's too well, but why bother taking that little piece off anyway?
Just put a new mirror next to it.......who is really going to look at it anyway....
