Anyone got Info on VW Electric Conversions?
pi22api22a - April 9th, 2007 at 10:17 PM

Gday all, been a while

I've been without a VW for a year or two now and am considering a new project. Thinking of converting a Type3 to full electric to use as a day to day city car. Anyone have any experience in these convercions?

All thoughts, ideas, comments appreciated.

Ps, Now in Perth WA

What a beauty... this one is awesome, would love to see it in the flesh.

Some cool links guys, the Ghia looks awesome (pity I can't afford one to convert).

Weight may be an issue, anyone know what different VW models weigh? May choose a beetle if there is much of a difference, otherwise just lighten up a T3

Good to see Paul, whats left to go on your Golf? Will drop you a line after I do a bit more research on the subject.

Found complete (less batteries) conversion kits for VW's from the US, $2000us on Ebay, and very basic ones for $1500 elesewhere. Surely must be able to source parts here?
