Anyone comming along to the Drags this weekend Sat 21st Sept ???
We will be there with the drag car from VVDS
BLBVW will be there with a club display and hopefully a couple of cars racing if we can get the thing back together in time
i'll be there in a 60's cal looker with a 1916 that should be good for a 16 or so
Well come on over to the VVDS car and say HELLO
How much is entry? And what times are we talking?
DONT KNOw HOW MUCH IT COSTS but we will be there from 8 am to around 10 pm
more info at
http://www.jamboree.com.au/
I will definitely be there (spectating).
Steve, the ET cut-off this year is 15.99, so you'd better flog the crap out of the car

I'll be there with bells on. Will be leaving Brisbane around ten if anyone wants to come for a drive.
25 bucks to get in, that better include parking.
Whats VVDS, sounds like a disease? Probably from hanging around veedubs too long.
Kurt
Kurt, it stands for Vintage VeeDub Supplies, a major vw shop in sydney.
And I've been hanging around VW's for ages with no symptoms yet..............I think :P
Well fellow Forum members from QLD... i am disappointed.... not one of you said HELLO we were waiting all day from 7.30 amd to 10.30 at night where were you ??
What times did you's end up running?
Sorry Dave, only time I walked past you guys were all going hell for leather, so didn't want to interupt.
Did you see our trophy winning Club Display? :thumb
no you never get a chance to walk around when the cars there, we wouldnt have minded stopping for a moment
Well....... What times did you's end up running?
VVDS car broke an axle on first run track tooo sticky and didnt end up with a time so we dialed 11.3 and ran a 12.3 but got bumped out in first
run.
Dave Stokers Orange car ran into the 10s for the first time and came hoe with a smile from ear to ear.
Mike Kirstens car ran really well and i thnk ran a 10.81 but he missed the second round and got bumped.
Rod Penrose car rang extreamly well and went into the 9.85 from memory.
the is he won the 0 to 9.99 bracket on the night and knocked off the rotaries on the day... YEAH HAR for the VWs
Unfortunatly the day and organisation was a bit out of order and we all only had one qualifing pass due to excessive numbers of bloody street cars
running slicks.
Pretty good numbers.
Are vvds (or anyone with a drag vw) going to come down to Heathcote?
i think that more people would have chatted if we knew who was who..perhaps we could add our photos to our profiles so that we know who we're looking for??
There were 20 or so people on and in our area the other day you could have just yelled out everyone knows me
By the looks of those cars they seemed to be a long way from street cars. Ashame there are now so few vws there. i'm sick to death of R3s with
R13 or R20 rotary motors, they just sound like they are shitting themselves. mind you the guy that did the 7+sec pass was pretty impressive
it was amusing to see the front wheel drive drag cars, it just doesn't look right having those fats on the front wheels. no chance of chukking
a wheelie
I also came past for a look and it was quite interesting watching the frantic spanner work going on, looks like you were intensly rebuilding the
whole engine.
No that was just situation normal... we only broke an IRS axle and 2 CVs thats all
Larry sat by himself - enjoyed the day and took down some times to share with us.

Spectator Larry said that he had a good day, saw lots of racing, was ashame that VW were a small part of the day - enjoyed overall.
Some competitors were really upset by the running of the event which included very little qualifying opportunity, Not being told to line up
immediately after finishing run and thus being eliminated due to an oversight by officials, and some tech inspection controversies which saw us miss
out once again seeing Dave Buttler's BEAST...
-
So overall a good event, one which will see many more Rotories in years to come.
Ok . I dislike rotaries, but cant argue with the power. Hack a Beetle tomorrow carve a rotary in.
