The latest build is 4.5.472

open the program and manually check which portion is red, click on that (usually the update manager) and then hit update, whilst highlighted

Mine usually goes red in the update manager section as it needs a restart. If you click on Settings> Advanced you can delete the update temporary files and then rerun the update.

My mum had the same problem, but hers was a combination of both virus "patterns" out of date, AND a old version of the AVG application, which didn't accept the pattern updates - when she updated the app, the regular pattern updates started happening again.

If you go to Start/Programs/ AVG 7.5 / AVG Control Center it should start the control center screen.
There should be a list of components and Update manager will be highlighted in red.

Click on it and the settings button should appear at the bottom.

Click on the settings button and another window should pop up.

Choose the advanced tab and click on 'delete update temporary files'

This should change the update manager to green

click on it and the the update button.

It should download the update and tell you to restart the PC.

Hopefully that should fix it.

AVG is still heaps easier to work with than Nortons that we use at work.
