Thank you for this big reply:-) I am travelling as a backpacker and I am still not sure, if I will buy an old type2 bus to get around in. I found one at the site of http://www.wpvw.com.au/classifieds.htm  at he end of the page for $2500. But I don't know if it's worth it. It has to be registered and it really has to be reliable for this huge trip around australia. But for the first weeks I want to travel without a car, to get to know some other people which get around in this big fantastic country.
When and were is the exact location of the Day of the Volkswagen show in November in Melbourne? I am going to check out your VW-scene. I think it is a bit different to us in germany.
But sorry, I can't take my own ratlook 57'oval with me, although it has a big Type4 engine:-)

Be prepared, the VW events in Oz are much smaller than in Europe. But the people are just as friendly!

Hello IN2VWS,

I've been in Hannover too! It was really big this year. So let's meet next year!!!
Can anybody help me with finding a reliable Type2 baywindow bus for my trip?
I can afford only about $2500, but maybe somebody can help me? It would be good,
if the owner could buy it back, when I finished the trip, but that hasn't to be necessary.
Regards
Gunar
