Lemmerz / Mangels...?
jonathanmayes - August 9th, 2007 at 07:43 PM

I am looking for some help... I need the answer to four questions:

What is the story with Lemmerz / Mangels, what to buy?

How can I identify between orig. and repro?

What size were the orig. rims available in from the manufacturer?

What should I be paying for a set of 4?

Sorry for all of the questions - but I asked lots of questions re. how and what sort of beam / narrowed / spindles / adjusters (etc) and how low my '65 will be as a result, you were all so helpful to me making that choice and getting that setup - now I want some rims as stock rims are lacking!

Thanks in advance. :blush

if you want original porsche 15" rims then try posting a wtb thread in the for sale section as i recall 2 or 3 people having them and trying to sell them not so long back.

also if you do a search in parts for sale thread for lemmerz you'll find where i have asked whoever it was selling this style rim if they were original or repro - original will have lemmerz and another brand name who also produced them at the time engraved into the rim.

as for $ - all depends on condition etc but i would imagine up around the 700-1000 mark maybe.

if you are going to run 135s tyres up front i would try and get a set that is 4-4.5inch wide which i think they were originally anyhow.

what have you decided to do re: beam? - out or curiosity

nick - Thanks for that! I will begin the hunt for some, although I wasn't expecting to pay quite that much - may pay a little extra and go for some BRM's...?

My '65 had a dodgy beam set up when I bought it fairly recently (ie. removed leaves to get lower), so in the motions of throwing a king link with adjusters that are in a slammed position that I got to make it closer to what I am looking for in the short term off a mate from COR. When a few more things are done considering 4" narrowed with spindles - the dub seldom gets driven, nor will it get driven much so doesn't have to be to practical.
