Were thinking of doing the tree change thing, selling up and moving from melburg to either Castlemaine(hot rod capital of oz) or Ballarat?. I guess
the question is
has anyone here done something similar, or live in those places and have any good/bad points to part with?.
Im originally from the country (peterborough s.a) so i dont mind the lifestyle, my missus is from canada and needs a bit more convincing on the good
points. My reasoning is I can 1. have a bigger garage and generally more space 2. buy a place with no/little mortgage 3. have a nicer environment to
bang out and raise kids.
cheers,
Chris

we are near ballarat area on the melbourne side on 16 acres, mortage free thanks to moving over here from gippland 3yrs ago,
though the prices have gone up a bit, still quite reasonable.
we built this property up now has 2 large sheds we are selling to go onto to larger place maybe 50 acres + as we have too many horses.
we love it here only 25 mins to ballarat CBD that has everything you need
& my partner works on site in & around melbourne & finds the travel easier after moving from Nyora (gippsland) the travel on the monasah FWY was
terrible could take up to 3hrs he used to always come home
complaining, not anymore! cause here it's 1hr15mins to westgate bridge
so I say go for it, will be the best thing you do....
we are from the suburbs originally, & would never go back!!!

One of the advantages of living in the country is that, generally speaking, country councils will let you have really huge sheds in the town. Many farmers retire to the town and take their huge shed attitude with them. On rural land you can usually have as many as you want of any size.
thanks for that, just need to slowly get the ball rolling on this endeavour, wifes getting keener on the idea. Having a shed as big as your house is definitely something I wouldnt mind.
