Sure you don't want to go type IV Andrew - you seemed so passionate on shoptalkforums about your support for the 'big block' of vw engines??

I think Andrew has more sence than to put a water pumper in a Towdster!!! Keeping it aircooled is the only way to go!!!

Andrew my brother has a set of 94mm Mahle pistons and barrels with brand new rings and a spare set of used rings(have done 2500k's as have the
pistons and barrels). He also has some lightened Porsche rods for sale as well from his old 2330cc combo. Check buy and sell parts section for the
thread with all the goodies for sale.

Thanks Brennden but i would like new only on the Piston and Barrell Set as i have always spent bugger all on my motors before and reco'ed my old
Manxs 1835 more times than i can remember and always with the Old P & C's so it'll be nice to finally have mostly new !!

Not to mention that theres NO bloody room for a heater and anyway when its cold i'll just hook it behind the Kombi and turn on the Climate Control

Sorry mate i can't log in and can't be bothered with there crap , not to mention i would bet that whatever you were showing is NOT streetable
especially OFFROAD .
So with that CRAP OUT THE DOOR i'mm happy to admit that i'mm following the skill of a mate in "Dyno" and together we will no dought build some
kick ass motors WHICH ARE A SHIT LOAD LIGHTER THAN A TYPE 4 AND AS I'VVE SAID BEFORE REV QUICK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What 10 kg heavier is a hassle, are you whinging about the weight of a EG33 in the back of your bus. Whats the problem, you will be spending more on
the price of a new aluminium type 1 case which is heavier than a type 4 case than the price of a complete running type 4.

You might save a $1000 on the price of the case with a T4 but then it costs you $ 2000 for heads as apposed to $ 1000 for Type 1 heads so the cost is
not that much different i spose but then youve got to cool the T4 which is another $1000plus as aposed to T1 again that you can use stock cooling plus
an external cooler which you would need to run on a big T4 anyway so in short i have always prefered my old type 1 even though i did have a good run
with the type 4 previosley it is NOW DEFINETLEY T1 ALL THE WAY and in regards to weight i think it would be more like 20kg once dressed.
Finally the EG33 in the Bus is i know going to weigh approx 50kg heavier than the T4 BUT it has buckets of torque, 200rwhp stock and all the other
nicities in Cruise control , climate control and a/c etc and at $5500 a dam site cheaper than what i could build a T4 with that hp.
Brad - August 25th, 2007 at 03:51 PM
T1 has better ground clearance also.
Don't get me wrong I am never going back to Air Cooled in my buggy as the 2.5L Turbo engines is just so nice and clean and I can live with teh 30mm
of ground clearance I lost :>
OZ Towdster - August 25th, 2007 at 05:32 PM
Apart from what has ended up as T1 verses T4 discussion ranging from weight to the unknown and beyond i have now ordered all my parts from Rod Penrose
which he is on the way to the US to buy as i post this.
Oh and 66Deluxe , see ya at the track

The new Aluminium T1cases are about the same weight as a T4 case.
