I'm toying with using space savers on the front of the beetle to slam it a little more for car shows etc. The Nankang 145's I'm running just
aren't doing it for me.
I intend on using 115/70/15 scored 2 for $60 brand new.
Any thoughts or pics of people running the same thing.

ive heard Smart Car tyres are the way to go.
I had that exact thought last night when contemplating a pro-street look for a beetle, was gonna use space savers on the front and widened stockies on the rear, get them chromed, i reckon it would look sweet
i have done it using 14 inch savers i want the low low look the centers are easy to grind out and fit bug 4 stud wheels just get a good welder to do the rewelding takes him about 1 hour if you do all the cutting they look sweet like smoothies than i fitted a set of wide 5 hubcap clips and now i have dome caps sweet

why not they are a approved wheel the space saver tyer is not for long periods but the wheel is
you can go to neels wheels and have the ofset altered to suit your application and they are welded even the latest 2007 savers are
I used bridgestone space savers for along time ,some have written on them a speed rating and tempory use .I found ones that had no speed rating and not much crazy writing all over them . I all so found less air the better they rode ( 5psi ) becouse they are very solid thick rubber and hotter they get better they ride . They will follow the grooves on the road surface ,too . But looks cool !
aren't they 80klm/h rated though, hatwe to be going on a decent highway trip and have one of them blow out, even if you kept under 80kph, the long drives wouldn't be good for them....as said the smart 145/65/15 are low profile and would make the overall diameter smaller hence looking lower!

I can understand the coolness factor of wanting to use these Tijuana look tyres, but they go against several RTA regulations.
The outside diameter of the wheel and tyre combination must be no more than 15mm over the largest diameter wheel and tyre combination specified for
the vehicle and not more than 15mm below the smallest diameter wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle.
Front wheels. The lesser of each front wheel shall be:
i) no wider than the maximum permitted for rear wheels on your vehicle or 204mm;
ii) no narrower than 70% of that fitted to the rear wheels; and
iii) no narrower than a standard wheel fitted to the your vehicle as original equipment.
And not forgetting KMH rating and the temporary use regulations. You insurance company would love any excuse to wipe your cover in the event of an
accident.

Interesting, I'm already running the 145/65/15 but they just don't do it for me.
I'm running a 4 1/2 inch adjustable narrowed beam, with drop spindles which looks sooooo much sweeter with the 115/70/15.
Also thanks for the RTA info Steve, but there's not much left on my vehicle which is leagal, so whats another one to add to the list.
I only intend on using the 115/70/15 for car shows etc, no long trips.
Wheel spec on my beetle:
Front: 115/70/15
Rear: 225/60/15
Not legal but looks tough as nails.

but I have to ask, why don't the 145's do it for you? Too low a profile, you prefer the old skool 135 look, because alot of people who go the 145
route go back to 135s pretty quickly even though the 145s handle better, are probably alot safer, have more rubber contact with the road and let the
car sit a little lower.
well what can ya say your are right about everything but car people are not savvy to good only cooooooooool so there ya it as simple as i can put it

145's a great for general road use, but I intend on using the 115's for car shows etc. It'll look nuts with 115 on the front and 225's on the
rear.

well that does for me,i'm selling up buying a comador 2 kids a wife, than i'm going to sit in my back yard near the BBQ and just wait.
hopefully someone else will do something interesting and differant so i can at least clap for them the buggers ,but at least i'll be legal MAYBE
