h - September 8th, 2007 at 08:01 AM

hey all,

a recent reply on a thread on here got me thinkin?
the old adage of 'how long is a piece of string' has never really been established or has it?
so with enuff brain cells mushed together on here maybe this adage can be answered thus enlighten everyone with 'how long is a piece of string'

my answer:
the same distance as it takes a week to walk a fortnight.

any one else want to tackle this unanswered question?

btw you ppl people you clicked on this thread for cheap smut i say, well i woulda clicked here as well.. :P

A length of a piece of string is precisely double the length of it after it has been folded in half...

vw54 - September 8th, 2007 at 10:07 AM

Its as long as from point A to point B
sometimes if you fold it in half then its only half as long

Bizarre - September 8th, 2007 at 10:14 AM

but if you fold it in half then there is the distance of the turn around - so half aint exactly half

vw54 - September 8th, 2007 at 10:17 AM

yes that would be slightly less than the origional piece of strings then

Is that Pie r squared or 2 times the radius

bond - September 8th, 2007 at 11:23 AM

sad

$2.63 homebrand baja - September 8th, 2007 at 11:44 AM

ah but if you join the two ends together it could go on forever?

vw54 - September 8th, 2007 at 01:46 PM

If you joined the there would b a knot taht u would bump into all the time

$2.63 homebrand baja - September 8th, 2007 at 02:12 PM

could, but depends on how the join was made. What I find most frustrationg is the question h posted does not specify if the string is standard string or silly string.

65busser - September 8th, 2007 at 02:22 PM

That's so easy. It's as long as it is.

vw54 - September 8th, 2007 at 02:26 PM

well if it was silly string it would be all over the floor lika a mad womans sh i teeeee

Bizarre - September 8th, 2007 at 02:27 PM

not if some one shortened it

greedy53 - September 8th, 2007 at 05:47 PM

i was taught the usually the first half was exactly half but the last half was not because by the time you get to the last half you are tired anfdthan the mesurment is out thus buggering up at mathamatics
hope that clears all thosae silly thoughts

ancientbugger - September 8th, 2007 at 09:18 PM

On a similar vein, I wonder if the first person who said "I wouldn't be dead for quids" is still alive?

matberry - September 8th, 2007 at 10:56 PM

I think he died. And of course it is only as long as you want it to be which is usuall just short of long enough! If that makes sense.

Brian - September 9th, 2007 at 07:28 AM

I know 4 sure if the string is too long, its only too long at one end.

h - September 9th, 2007 at 03:52 PM

hmmm $2.63..
well didnt quite look at it in that light
so maybe you could extrapalate the difference between both..
! that reminds me of the 'goodies' ep with the string song in it..
come to think of it it was about string that ep.. funny stuff!

mr. bond - sad.. huh? dude your on here a bit so 'whats all that about?' haha

greedy53 - September 9th, 2007 at 04:11 PM

Craig Torrens - September 9th, 2007 at 05:54 PM

vw54 - September 9th, 2007 at 06:34 PM

it about as long as a word as this origional piece of string

LUFTMEISTER - September 9th, 2007 at 06:56 PM

a string = a cubic :D

barls - September 9th, 2007 at 07:49 PM

twice half the distance from one end to the middle

phatratpat - September 9th, 2007 at 08:11 PM

greedy53 - September 9th, 2007 at 10:22 PM

h - September 12th, 2007 at 12:11 AM

well $2.63 we are waiting my dear..

hipichic - September 14th, 2007 at 11:31 PM

It depends what colour the string is.

Adsman - September 17th, 2007 at 03:09 AM

seriously people

a length of string is precisely twice half its length

now doesn't that make sense :P
