well i took the new girl to get a blue slip today and i didnt think she would pass was just taking her to see how bad it would be and deary me it was
way worse than i thought , but then again i think i might have been walking around with my head in the sand..
we the list goes
brakes
hand brake and the like
battery clamp
engine leaks oil (mind you its sat in my garage for 4 days and ive got 4 spots of oil)
front engine mount broken
rear sway bar links + bushs
ok now for the rust.. hmmm
front + rear floorpans
front cross member
right + left wheel arch (front)
right + left chssis
well thats the list some things i expcted and have no problem fixing but some of the others we are just going to look around for some help..
but i guess its the things you have to expext when you buy a 40 yr old car and just buying it cos i wanted it so darn bad and was on the cheapish
side
but i guess ill get started on her soon cos i dont want her to end up in bits in the garage like the last one
i feel your pain...
its a pity the ad say... would pass easily in their ad.
wonder if the tosser who sold it knew for sure. maybe they can reimburse for their deception??

not trying to put ideas in your head but different inspectors will have different lists. The mechanical stuff you listed won't add up to much if you
do it yourself, if you need to do the rust it may pay to pick up a MIG.
Best of luck
Stephen
yeah my father in law is helping me so most of it was can do but the rust we have no idea how to weld so will have to get outsaid help..
hey this might sound dumb but what is MIG?
MIG = metal inert gas, its a type of welding process
oh yeah i think i know what you mean..
the old man said we would have to weld plates over the bad bits or get new floor pan and seems i want to drive it this yr i say we will have to find a
welder
Sorry to hear of your dilema but if you can't weld YET i would ask at your local TAFE for a coarse that suits you and is availaible for one night a
week usualy and once started you can take in small repairs to do in class.
Now the above sounds good but you still need to take in the time it will take for this sort of project or you can remove the rusty sections (after
having your panel beater approves )by carefully cutting out the rust areas but keeping the cut out for a template and cleaning up the edges and then
return the car to the beater for the repairs / welding.
don't weld plates over rust thats a bad joke best left to English restorers. cut it out and but weld it, you will find thats its easer than you might think.
know the feeling..
my first inspection of my bug i got 2 pages of defects on it!!!
guy said he was doing me a favour by stopping at 2.
i knew it wouldn't pass.. but jesus!!!!!
didn't take long and much $$$ to get it roadworthy... then took it somewhere else for the next test and passed.
i just figured the guy wanted the $$ from the repairs.
