howdy, been looking for superbug .I like 73'- 75' model curved screen. Is there any model that you would recomend.Do the supers rust more than others .cheers tim.

Yes - supers rust more than others.
Fact. But no more than a 1976 standard.
Move on... find one without rust. They are out there.

What is best.
Personal taste.
I have (and always wanted) a 75L
Advantages over a 1302 flat sreen super are -
curved screen
2 bolt struts
rack and pinion

Biggest down side is finding one with a perfect dash.
Still - a mat covers a lot of sins.
Not THAT hard to get them reskinned.

1302s (1971-1972) are easier to find
75 1303's are probaly the hardest to find

thanks, but what is two bolt struts all about?

After 62&1/2 the Beetle lost it purity of design. Was then controlled by legislation and bean counters. But its all about personal choice and the buyer decides whats suits them best. Good luck and hope you find your own choice ride. my2c

2 bolt struts are the later design
a bit more solid.
Earlier supers had a 3 bolt strut. as shown

Just a slightly different design/geometry of front strut... no biggy ad makes really no difference unless you want to spend $20 grand and put it on a race track...

Like most other cars (eg: Commodores) the Supers got a little better with each advancing year but you should always buy on condition, not year: a nice '71 is much nicer than a rusty '75 - like the one I 'killed' a few weeks ago!!
