So its come time to replace the tyres on my beetle. I am just after the standard 165/80/15 but I was thinking of maybe going whitewalls. Who can recommend somewhere to get them from and also an idea on costs?

Also just wondering roughly what is kind of prices are getting on your average(non performance) tyre for your beetle.

cheers

if you want standard tyres, I have found Hancook Centrums have great grip in all conditions and are only about $100 each.

Cheers for that. I was just told that antique white wall tyres for $25 a corner, for now I can't really afford whitewalls it doesn't look like so this may be the option I go fir. But does anyone know the quality and longevity of the white wall paint/compound?

The whitewall inserts are a good option if you want 2-3" widths. Ive had them on my daily drivers and provided you do regular **maintenance they last a very long time.

**Rubber grease in between the inserts and tyre and do not scrub clean but use wax and grease remover and apply Armourall/silicon base product straight after.

Alternatively Hankook/Pirelli etc have a 1" whitewall
