'puta help - Skype
Bizarre - January 6th, 2008 at 06:00 PM

Trying to set up Skype.

Can do it no worries on the work laptop but ol' trusty the home puta wont go.

Its the headset. Skype says it cant hear me. Asks if the mic is muted??
I can record on "voice recorder" under accesories no probs.
I go through all the set up and all the "mutes" are checked correctly.
Under "control panel" the only device i can pick is VIA Audio (Wave) and this is what i set Skype to.
On Skype i can either pick Windows default of VIA (Wave) - makes no difference.

When i use "voice recorder" on the lap top it is nice and audible ( ie loud) but the recording is fairly quiet on the desk top.

Is it just set too quiet??
Is my 'puta just to antique??

Any ideas??

1. Are you plugging into the front or m/board rear port? Be sure that the front one is set for use if it's plugged in there. Some have had the problem and it was a problem in the selection on the motherboard sound setup, not skype.

2. Some Microsoft webcams (Lifecam VX 3000) has problems with audio. Best to use a different mic for input.

3. I have used the standard motherboard "Realtek" audio in and out with Skype auto-setting the in and out, with great results for a couple of years on various computers from slower celeron (1,6 Ghz) to the newer core 2 duo systems.

All these questions!!

Try some of these and see how it goes.
