I could never see the point of buying an old box which has no guts to go up the slightest hill and if it makes it, you can't stop it going down hill. And it will chop your legs off in case of any front end accidents. And for the amount of money that is being asked for a decent on these days, there are a LOT more options. You can even buy a decent Porsche for less than a restored Kombi.
Not trying to offend anyone, just my personal opinion.

they have character and soul. more so than some people *cough*

It had to happen, the prices were unsustainable, most that could afford one have got one. so now we should start to see some realistic prices. Bays are light years ahead of them, although they dont have the same style, they have a following that is growing every day, and you can actually buy a good one for less than $10.000 and still have the Kombi experiance.

Hi

Its a bit like the chop top Beetle craze, I remember seeing these go for over 10,000 in the 1980s, convert that into today's $s

They do have character and soul, and they have habits that only a true enthusiast could love.

most people turn them into surrogate bays anyway with the balljoint front and IRS...which is a good thing BTW. I know one kombi freak that describes splits as plain awful, and hes like them.

I'd rather have a porsche too. :ninja:
