No Clubs Just Dubs
HotRodMatt - May 25th, 2003 at 10:02 AM

Thought up an idea and executed it last night.

I'm gonna organise semi regular social cruises and runs for any Veedubber.

I'm calling them No Clubs Just Dubs. I'm a member of a club but also want to cruise with other Veedubbers. So the idea is for runs where no club is oganising the cruise/run/outing and anyone is welcome - members of clubs or not.

There will be no ownership of the concept, anyone can organise one - just post details here and let people know in anyway other way possible.

The only thing I would like to see is that no one "pushes" clubs during the runs. People can make up their own minds if they want to join clubs and which one/s they join. So club regalia should be kept to a minimum - stickers of course on cars are no problem. Wearing club jackets, shirts, hats having membership info available would be too much for what I would like to see as a social/affinity type thing.

The idea of meeting people from other clubs and those who don't want clubs and being able to have a cruise / bbq / drink etc is appealing. We all know how hard it is to organise combined events between clubs at times so these events could give us the chance to remember that the VW scene is small but we are able to enjoy our cars together from time to time...

Great idea Matt:thumb How about your first cruise could be to Brisbane. I'd be up for that. We could meet at the Breaky Creek.
Yeh that sounds great I'm in.

But seriously I'ts a great idea. How about all you Brisvegians ?anybody interested in a similar concept in Bris. Not a club day just vdubs and vdub people meeting at a central location.:D Long weekend comig up soon.:thumb

What's wrong with my avatar? LOL.
Just a hint to people of my long long term project ...

Glad to see some quick responses. I'm dreaming up the next one I'll organise at the moment and making a flyer...

Long weekend.... sounds like a good time to plan a winter camp! Warm fire, veedubs, tents and beer!

HotRodMatt - May 25th, 2003 at 07:57 PM

what is it?

kafer70 - May 25th, 2003 at 08:07 PM

Looks good Matt. Why not let people wear their club gear?. I'ts all gonna come out anyway.:D

HotRodMatt - May 25th, 2003 at 08:21 PM

Preference is not. Not gonna send anyone away for wearing it ... just would like runs without certain clubs being pushed....

My sticker won't come off the car but I wouldn't be using these events as an opportunity to push the club I am in...

sorry not able to get to the drive in.
Thanks for the pre- warning of the next event....
But where is Kangaroo River.?????

Oh yeah Just looked up on map...Kangaroo Valley..
That would be cool Run, and I mean COOL.
Unfortunately I will be on a " Third Honeymoon " at that time..
I'll actually be down at Kiama.
I may run into every one.
but wont plan on it as will be a spontaneous planning weekend away .
We tend to cruise down to Berry ( well did last time ).

But certainly will come along to one soon.

HotRodMatt - May 25th, 2003 at 10:02 PM

Short trip from Kiama....

Some people will probably come for a day a night a few hours but hopefully most for the whole weekend...

I know there's a lot of Nambucca advertising at the moment, but once your event thingy is off the ground (and you're making an excellent start), please make sure the announcements are in the Events forum... or I'll move them into the Events forum for you.

Also for the long weekend, why not go as far as Albury? There's a nifty little get together happening with the Victorians and the Albury people :)
