Downtime notice:
vanderaj - March 30th, 2008 at 02:48 PM

There's going to be a sucky outage:

  • WHAT's AFFECTED: Network downtime - our server will not be reachable
  • WHEN: Sunday April 13
  • Starts: 7 pm AEST (0300 US CDT)
  • Finishes: 10 pm AEST (0600 US CDT)
  • HOW LONG: 15 minutes, most likely, but the window is for three hours just in case.

Almost certainly they thought it would be a good idea to have the outage really early in Dallas. Shame all the users are in Australia! :)

    Background

If you're non-technical or don't care, skip this bit.

The backbone provider our hoster uses is upgrading their core router in Dallas soon. This will interrupt our service.

    SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ADVISORY

    Date: Sunday April 13th 2008 (4/13/2008)
    Start time (CST): 3:00am CDT
    End time (CST): 5:00am CDT
    Devices: fcr01.dal01
    Location: dal01
    Duration: 15 minutes
Services Effected: Network connectivity to all servers.

Network Engineers will be performing upgrade maintenance on the from customer router in Dallas. During this time, engineers will be swapping out the existing supervisor engines (SUP720-3BXL) with new Cisco best of breed supervisor engines (VS-S720-10G-3CXL) on FCR01.DAL01. As this router provides direct connectivity to your server(s), public internet connectivity will be unavailable at various points during the above maintenance window. Although we expect this upgrade of the supervisor engines to only take approximately 15 minutes, we have scheduled a maintenance window from 3:00am to 6:00am CDT. For more information on the supervisor engines, please see the below links.

    thanks,
    Andrew
