Hi everyone,
I just joined today-what a great site!I've got a 75 L bug which I'm repainting at the moment, will post some before and after pics.
Does anyone know where I can get some replacement headlights from in Sydney as the chrome (brazilian) on the passenger light is stuffed-the lights
are also very dull.I have heard you can get replacement sealed beams for these-is this true?where can you get them?
Cheers
Welcome!
As I rookie I have found this site amazing.
Not sure about your question but I am sure u will have an answer within an hour!
V Force sometimes have replacement sealed beams with driving light built in
Give Richard a call on 0408 991 247
Lights being dull is often a bad earth
Also in Sydney try either VintageVW (Boris) or ClassicVW (George) if it isn't a bad earth for the repalcement units.
For Bris try Micks Motors,
all others, not sure.....bueller... bueller?????
thanks for the information guys-I think the dull light is more the sad state of the reflecting cones though which is why I was after some new sealed beam units
But where are you or are you happy with mail order?
I'm in Sydney, and mail order is fine if I can find the right place and price.I've found them in the states on the net but not in Australia
Hi
If you don't want to stay completely original, I fitted some headlight buckets which take a standard 7 inch sealed beam to my 74 bug, then I bought
some really nice Hella semi sealed beam units.
Your mudguard should already have provision for the bucket to screw to.
Then if your car has the plastic chrome headlight rings just re fit them to cover everything up or as I did on my 74, I removed the headlight rings
from the stock headlight, cut off the 2 adjusting screws and fitted it over the top of the sealed beams.
You will then need to fit a relay for the high beam and you will now have brilliant headlights.

its not too difficult to fit5 any sealed beamed headlamps..
NARVA - HELLA - many VW shows have aftermarket sealed beams...
shouldn't be hard to fit or adapt and seal or semi sealed beams
using 1975-76 beetle original headlamps is the way to go
just replace the dull headlamps...
cheers
