Steve, you werent really enquiring about the light/mirror, you just wanted to show us your new Mac laptop............very nice :)

Hi

I would think about selling it if I got a good offer, the chrome is a little pitted. Its sitting on my bookcase next to my flying VW, trophies, toy VWs etc, looks cool. I was filling up with petrol the other day and this guy walked up to me and started telling me about the 58 bug he used to own, next thing he told me about this mirror.

The fruit box belongs to my son, Christmas/Birthday present for year 11, I like it.

the only pic I've ever seen of one [overseas]
was on a very early VW beetle with canvas doors [4]
and no roof...

Not sure who made it..

was painted army green...

So, its very rare..

Hi

I've had some very serious offers, I'm still thinking, I'm not mercenary, I did pay the guy for it, he was going to fit it to his 2CV.

Ill give you a $1.00 for em :lol::crazy::lol::crazy:

68AutoBug - April 7th, 2008 at 07:21 PM

the beetle I saw them on [in a book]
was a 4 canvas door convertible POLICE beetle

that was made in the late 40s by no other than Hebmuller.

that makes them very old...

and collectable

john, top notch info as always, i tired to grab one of those last time i was there, however you had them well secured.. haha.. ;)

68AutoBug - April 8th, 2008 at 05:07 PM

Yes I agree
Excellent information

still makes them Very Rare...

I find many mistakes in most books about VWs...

especially the ones written in the UK...

Lee

PS: I've never seen pics of the steel doored convertible..
before..
