tacho of some sort, mabye one that can be held by hand while working in the engine bay? or mabye just a removable one, so that it can't be stolen?

Looks like tacho from "z" model Datsun
These cars were also equipped with Empi products.

this gauge from empi was used when you would start test a reco motor. it has a oil pressure light and a generater light...
