I'm not very familiar with L Bugs, but I'd guess it's the reservoir for the windscreen washer?

windscreen washer bottle. Uses air pressure to sort of squirt the screen.

bd-850 - May 13th, 2008 at 09:32 PM

ahhh ok, coz i have the bracket but not the bottle, but then mine is a 71 model and i have a little bottel on the left hand side of the car, is mine ment to be like that?

greasykitchen - May 13th, 2008 at 09:39 PM

Don't know about the '71 (superbug is it?) but my '72 1300 had the bottle under the spare wheel with the nozzle for it sticking out of the centre of the wheel. The wheel sitting semi upright rather than flat as in supers and Ls.

little bottle on the passenger side should be the brake fluid reservoir

barls - May 13th, 2008 at 09:51 PM

btw the package got posted today so you should have it soon

bd-850 - May 13th, 2008 at 09:52 PM

actaully your prob right i havent had a good look, i will on the week end

thugbug - May 13th, 2008 at 10:13 PM

Windshield washer bottle. The spare wheel supplies air pressure to the bottle. The spare wheel remains usable at all times as a special valve cuts off the air flow to the washer when pressure drops below 2kg/cm3. Courtesy of the instruction manual in the bug i picked up tonight.

Thats DUB74L NOS Bottle

Joel - May 14th, 2008 at 07:27 PM

shhhh Ian dont ruin my secret LOL

yep thats the standard washer bottle for all 71-75 superbugs
and standard bugs have the one cliped to the spare wheel same as greasykitchens
ive got a remote electric pump fitted to mine but most ppl just ditch the original bottle and fit an universal one with a built in pump which is what theyve done to ur car BD-850
first time i used it when the original air pressure one was hooked up it shot a big jet of water into my lap
