Thought some of you might like to see this.

As some of you know, I used to be a muso for a living. Recently, a mate of mine finished building me a guitar. Thought you might like to see some of the pics. The guitar was made of out South Coast hardwood (NSW) that I picked up off a sawmill scrap heap on my honeymoon. That was nearly 11 ago now, so lets just say it was well seasoned.

Before I show you this, I should tell you, the guy who made it is not a tradesman or professional and literally scrounged most of the tools he owns. His workshop is not much bigger than my back toilet and it's only semi-enclosed. I can't wait till he buys all the new tools he was telling me about the other day.

Here's how it started... http://www.imageposter.com/storage/t97/97086start.jpg

Here's the finished product...

The front.

The Fretboard.

The Headstock.

Sorry, image poster seems to have squished the images. But just click on them to have a closer look.

For those who are interested, here are the specs:

Longscale Lapsteel Slide Guitar
3 octave fingerboard
Neck-through body with hollow routed wings.
Capped top
Solid strat style chrome bridge
Gibson Style geared tuners
Wilkinson P90 singlecoil pickup
Bone nut
Basic linear tone and volume controls

I don't think I need to even start telling you how amazing the tone is. It does sound very country, but that's what you get with slide guitar. If anyone would like a custom electric guitar at very reasonable prices let me know and I'll put you in contact with my friend. The last thing he did before this was totally restore a 69 Gibson SG (aka Angus Young).

Nice. Wish i could find the "A" who nicked my old mans slide. Built by Selmer (UK) some 60 years ago. I remember going to the 3 Swallows and The Oasis at Bankstown watching dad and his Hawaiian band in the 50s/60s. Sweet sound.
