I remember that there are Enthusiasts, visiting aussieveedubbers, that possess the knowledge, how to obtain a Birth Certificate for an VW.
Could you please enlighten me?
I have an acquaintance that is interested in procuring one, and I have offered to assist
him in this endeavor.
Thanking you in advance

Forgot to say that if it has been registered in Victoria, then you can also get the registration history certificate from the AOMC http://www.aomc.asn.au/eng®records.htm

Hi Silver
A few VW owners have just received their birth certificates [located in the USA]
there were many mistakes on some of the certificates
and the accessories could not be named..
ie: M729 Not Known
the year, engine size and color were all wrong...
the cost is 55 EUROS for the piece of paper
a fellow in the US just sent $55 US Dollars and they sent it back.. US Dollars was acceptable a year ago...
it seems the department who does this has been downgraded...
its now just a very plain piece of paper i'm told..
worth the $10US it used to be....

It's actually 35 Euro.
I'm not surprised they sent the US$ back, why do some yanks think the rest of the world should bow down to them? If the price is in Euro, why send
US$.
When it first started, the basic page of information was free.
I've read a few posts where the information was wrong, which I thought was a bit odd. The Germans are normally fastidious with their record keeping.
Then when I got my AOMC certificate I worked out that another source of error is reading the stamping on the car. The stamps used on my car were
getting to the end of their life and were hard to read. I misread one of the digits, and the AOMC guy picked it up. If I sent the number off to
Wolfsburg I also would have got all the information wrong, and naturally would have blamed Wolfsburg when the problem would have been at my end.
The other thing is that the certificate will not provide an engine number UNLESS you provide them the engine number from your car AND it is the
original engine. They will only confirm it is original, they will not just tell you what it is. My 56 has the original engine, my 58 has also got a
later motor but I have the delivery papers with the correct number - but my 57 has got an engine from 59. I am getting the AOMC certificate to
determine the original engine number, and will send that to Wolfsburg to get a certificate with the engine number on it - even though it won't have
the correct engine.
How long ago was it 35 Euros??

PS: they did accept US dollars and Euros a year ago...
