what is the best ratioed box to get a good highway speed from a 1600 kombi i was told that 1303 from a super bug was pretty good and as i have 1 i'm hoping thats right

Is this a trick question , as i would think a 1600 3rib kombi box to be best

The 1303 box is not a "straight swap" into a 1600 bus.

With the correct bellhousing, an 091 bus(2lt) can be used in the early bay bus
for the least rpm, but will not accellerate at good because it is taller in all gears.

In fact, with stock 1600 engine,
you may not even be able to reach a greater speed at all.

Another option is to use a 1600 fourth gear in an 1800 bus gearbox,
but this involves a full rebuild to change the gear over.

But this is nearly the same overall final drive to most 2lt bus boxes,(3.988, compared with 2lt bus 4.037),
so again, without added power you may not get up to higher speed.

and your engine might be labouring + the fan going slower = overheating:grind:
