Well, I'm in L.A for the next couple of months and was on the phone to a local VW parts supplier the other day when he picked up on my accent. When
he found out I was over from Australia he informed me that it was a great time of year to be in L.A. because of all the V.W. shows going on.
The show he informed me was the U.S. premier event to see was the V.W. Classic Bugarama in Irvine California.
Last weekend I jumped on a train at Union station heading 45mins out of town to Irvine to check it out.
This is what I saw....
Speachless!
Ass shot.
Nice S.C.
Nice Pinstripe.
Check out the rack! The timber slats had sagged over time?!
Rag tops everywhere!
Some v. rare gems- but it all cost!
This guy had more patina than his ride.
Nice dealer plate framed pictures.
Unique Ghia....
...and up for sale- offers around $40,000
Nice!
Original sign written T.V. Combi.
Hoodride / Hood-died. This had all the s#*t though.
It was 40 degrees plus, and this guy didn't get out from his matt black Rat-rod all day!
V.Tidy!
Beautiful Bug next to a tidy Frid.
Low-light Rat with late model vents?
Bagged on 17's
I loved the colour of this car.
Full Metal Split window.
G.F.K.
German Folks SoCal.
I loved this ride!
Split windows as far as the eye can see!
Wow!!!!
Faultless Ghia! The paint was jaw dropping!
I loved the choice of wheels on this ride. This ride was spot on!
Great choice of colours. My favourite bus of the day.
I had the feeling it was mostly filler.
I liked this ride. Something differant.
Ghia in kit form.
SoCal Rust Box- Patina at it's best!
I spent 5 hours walking around the swap-meet and only 1 looking at the show cars; but for me that was the right thing to do. I picked up some rare
parts to help me finish off my Ghia project and started getting bits and pieces for the single cab.
I also made some good contacts with U.S. companies who claim to ship to Australia for what sound like fair rates. Time will tell..
I can't wait to go to more shows while I'm here. I'll be sure to let you know what I find.

and i always bring back over weight luggage
great pics...thanks
Awesome, awesome pics. I can nearly feel the SoCal heat.
Top photo's. One traffic jam at the end of the day I wouldn't mind being in.
Oh, um, not many type 3's there?

Thanks for posting.
Fantastic pics.
Thanks Guys, but the pleasure was all mine!
I did the whole thing on crutches- I'm over here to be with my girlfriend while I recover from a road accident.
All in all, it's not a bad way to spend recovery time and worth every effort.
I might have a couple of pics of type 3's including one by KCW- honestly though, they weren't in great numbers.
And considering the number of early bugs- not a barndoor to be seen???
Great photos and some awesome rides there
Well done.
Love the pics. Grt8 to get ideas from the other side of the planet.
Geez making me rethink my travel plans int he future
Niice!!! they all look famiilar from when i went there in october when it was in vegas, a whole day is never enough to go round and look at everything
Very good. We were over there this time last year, so I know precisely the atmosphere. You unfortunetly missed a couple of 'gatherings' that happen
around that time as well, but you nailed the main show!
Well done, and thanks for the pics!
i was there 2 , it blows me away with the amount of quality cars- also went to the bugorama in sacromento side by side mid 8 sec 1/4s are insane- my
favorite events are probably the octo show 300 split buses, a 23 lineup to die for and barn doors by the hand full , and dkp cruise night - slicks
and wheelie bars on the steet i can only dream of that back here
adam
Our shows could be like that if we all got together in one spot at the same time Great show Great pics love the Karmann Ghia"s
