Interesting to see how many are left of only a couple of hundred or so that came to Australia.Do you have one or know of one?.Even if it's a
wreck it's still a barndoor if you have a picture to go with it even better.
Considering how rare they are there are still a few floating around...
This one my dad owns and had two others but sold them to a freind, also had a single cab barndoor sold it to a guy in Brisbane,
This is the ute.
looked at one on the weekend,is very rusty,no floor, fuel tank rusted away, the roof is been used for a shelf, and now is flat,no lights,no rear door, has
side doors, front doors, but in bad condition, the owner said a old german man lived in it until he died, then it just sat in the weather.front bar still
on it but bent, the one with the ridges, still has a steering wheel,no horn button,no speedo, had semiphores but look rusty aswell,is a barn door that is
slowly going to the grave..
cheers....:jesus
hey wrecker
where was this at??? am interested have any photos?
cheers
rhys
Don't look, don't think about it,go and get it or bits off it as this sort of thing does
'nt happen every day, just hang on to the stuff or it will be gone forever.
I found one a while back, the body had dissolved but it had the gear shift, peadal cluster, rearend etc which i got and is rare as crap.Atleast if
someone like you who is into V.W.s gets it,it wo'nt be lost and if you don't get it tell someone else and they will surely save it or put it
on vagrant V.W.s in this forum.
This pic was taken at Boris's picnic day a while ago, anyone know what happened to this one? It was very nice too!
rear shot.
I have another pic of a barney in Orange, (can't find it now) it is of a double door pannel van, a bit rusty but mostly complete, don't
freek out its gone now, bought by a well known collector and parted out, I didn't think it was that bad.
Thanks for the input Dave,it was'nt the one on the right was it?
Man I thought that bus in the shed looked familia my dad sold 2 barneys to him back in the late eighties I think the other one was parted out, he just bought a 54 single cab off us too. we also had a barndoor panel but sold it coupla years ago and Rob Kings barney was ours too, sold it to him last year.

What is the difference between a barndoor front bench from a pre 1959 front bench?a bit thinner maybe,or is it a special barndoor only thing.
Can't a later model bench go in or what.
A barndoor front bench seat is different, as the base is flat, unlike a post 55 one which is shaped to fit a recess in the seat bulkhead.
how in the world am i ever going to find one in aus. for sale, and if i did find one, how much, roughly, would i be paying for a crusty one...just so
i know if i do find one how much to offer/accept.
I am extremly keen, if anyone can point me in the right direction i will love them long time......only metaphorically of course.
