Looking at Telstra's offering, choose five numbers from any network and get bonus calls to them, but in balance it still looks expensive.
Minefield of offers and gimmicks out there - anyone got a good deal elsewhere?
Cheers

3 have some ridicurousry good deals on at the moment. Very good value plans. Also, if you get out of 3G range, it'll use Hellstra's network and they have the best coverage in Aust. I'm on Vodafone right now and it's treating me good. I came from a $50 plan to a $30 cap and i'm more than happy with my expenditure. I was previously spending about $80 on the $50 plan, so this $30 cap suits me perfectly.

I was told yesterday that OPTUS $49 cap is best
You get about $150 credit for the $49
Look it up on the website..
I did read one company that the credit lasts if You buy more credits before the end of the month...
next G isn't covered in all areas... Country areas..
and telstra and Optus are Best..
I'm still deciding what to do.... lol

It all depends who you want to talk to
There are several deals where if you only talk to people on the same service it is free.
Telstra has a prepaid one of these.
Min $30 per month - whatever is left over you keep but loose the free number bit
They use to have a $49 special for $300 worth of calls.
I have one of these for my addicted son.
cant get rid of that one - they dont offer it now.
They Optus is one of the best for calling anyone
IF you buy the phone seperate so it is not locked you can buy 2 or 3 $10 prepaid and swap cards and talk for free on same service - but that is a lot
of mucking round
At the moment I have a free hour from Telstra in which i can ring anyone for 20 minutes...
but outside that hour its like 47c per 30 secs plus a hook up fee of 30c approx each call...
so naturally I only ring in that hour...
then watch the clock...
I can ring any landline phone on a $49 capped telstra account at Home for free...
but I use My mobile as a phone directory...
then a few weeks ago I forgot, and used My mobile....
a few times...
YIKES....
I have to find a better system...

iv used the $49 w/ $310 credit vodaphone prepaid for the last year or so, then recently switched over to the $49 w/ $310 credit vodaphone post-paid
plan, just so i could upgrade my phone for nothing.
honestly, if you want a whizz bang phone for free, and dont mind being in a contract (i read the fine print, there's nothing they can screw you over
with), vodaphone $49 plan is the best.
i got a $1200 phone for nothing, and im yet to run out of credit in a month and i use my phone for work as well. calls to melbourne and victoria
a couple times a week isnt uncommon !
ALL calls from a mobile phone are the same
there is NO difference to ringing across the road or across the country...
I rang local and then to My sister who was in Darwin and the calls were the same cost... [from MOBILE]
Vodaphone have antennas in Scone but when travelling between cities there is NO coverage..
and the phone tries to find a signal and batteries go flat fast ...

I took all their offerings for better or worse and found that the online deals were much better. I suppose if you're not metro then coverage is your
first priority, then price.
With Telstra's power they could come out with a really good product but they seem to want to screw people at every opportunity. Charging a connection
fee ontop of the charge just to listen to voicemail is totally uneccessary. Makes me wonder if they're that arrogant that they just make up what they
want.
