A Great Weekend - car orientated not VW

Hi All,
I have been looking for a new ride for a while now to drive everyday, missing a chrome bumper car and the feeling it gives you i started looking around and have always had a sweet spot for old Vals the hunt was on.
I have been looking for a VG coupe or a centura as they are a little smaller and like the stubby rear end. I have also just finished a sweet VF 770 with a 440 in it for a friend and that sort of inspired me to look this way.

A couple of weeks ago I was searching through carsales and found a centura. 68,000kms only driven to church on sundays.,, factory plastic on the seats... you know the story. Way too good to be true and only $3000. I thought it was worth a phone call and sent a friend in Melberg to check it out.

When he got there the whole car was covered in moss as it had been outside for the last year but in a shed since then. It was a deceased estate and inherited but the daughter and she didn't want it.

My friend looked at it and struck a deal for me without even looking at it for $2000. I flew over with my bro on friday night and hooked up with my friend and picked it up on sat morning. It was extremely dirty with bad roof racks etc and a badly peeling vinyl roof. My best friend in Melberg is in the car products industry and hooked up a panel shop in sunshine for us to take the car to to get the roof stripped and painted.

The car was a gem. Really good body, only a few spots of surface rust but no holes and within 2 hours of owning it we had the roof stipped and buzzing all the glue off. Within 4 hours it was in primer. While we had black in the gun I masked up some stripes on the bonnet and within 6 hours of owning it she was dring in the booth with a fresh coat of black on the roof and bonnet.

After it came out the booth we trekked to his house and did a oil, oil and fuel filter and sparkplug change and then got really drunk playing card into the night.

Up early the next day driving home didn't miss a beat. never got warm and everything works. The clock even keeps time. This is after sitting idle for the last 8 years. It is a luxo barge and 245 hemi but very cool to drive which I plan to do everyday.

Good times

Yes it is very nice, BUT did you do the burnout test?????
it is my standard for buying..... if it will at least chirp the tyres, theres a good chance it will be coming home with me!!!

Yeah smokes like a train, not much weight over the rear and and the motor seems really tight and doesn't like to rev yet. It was really babied and not revved hard. like I said, driven to church. Off to get tuned on Friday.
