Just curious. with all the hype what most people think.
It's just a world stage for testosterone overdosing jocks who used to beat up on nerds in school.
BTW...Have Jana Pittman's legs fallen off yet???
Bit of a yawn for me only watch the olympic weight lifting and olympic cricket
It is all about money, sad to see the poor countries only able to field a few atheletes
The opening ceremony was excellent. It will be very difficult for future games to better that. I watched the opening ceremony and I'll watch the
closing ceremony because they are both theatre.
The rest will be avoided, like all other organised sport is avoided. My life is a sport free zone. I'm now going to suffer from two weeks of TV
hell, until it's all over at last.
The original Olympic Games in Greece were spoiled and then eventually stopped because of money, bad spotsmanship and politics.
I have been saying for years, that the the Olympic Games should go back to Greece and stay there. They should be spread all over the country and the
world should pay to have the best possible facilities built there.
All sorts of people hate the Chinese and will try to disrupt these games. Politics will ruin these games. No-one hates the Greeks. In political and
sporting terms it's a neutral country.
I believe that by the time these games are over, many people will regret that they ever went to China. They will shamelessly cheat, restrict publicity
and I expect they will stitch up some athletes who beat they favourite Chinese athletes.
Wow shaihulud, lay it out bloke, what do you realy think.
Love em.
By the way Pete your survey is very bias.
It is no longer true to the spirit of the original. These athletes are not amateurs. They do nothing but train for their sport and if they work, it
is to advertise for their sponsors. If that does not make them professional athletes, I don't know what does.
It is a total waste of money now. China has spent 40 billion dollars to run these games and yet their people are still living in what we call poverty
for anyone in those types of conditions here.
Our DVD player will be getting a lot of use in the near future and channel 7 will be a no go zone. We usually watch their news but I even stopped
watching that before the games started as they had so much crap about the olympics on.
Yogie
So are we the same people who 8 years ago were jumping up and down in the euphoria of the Sydney Olympics? Or are we all just cynical now because
we've had our turn?
I've always loved it. Whether people are cheating or not, seeing the best in the world compete, and seeing every Joe average of the smaller countries
having a go is what it's all about.
I'm not watching any of them....
I'm protesting
My Wife will watch the Aussies swimming etc...
but its still a Communist Country...
and We all know about its human rights..
what human rights?
I avoided the Sydney games as well. Brisbane is talking about bidding to host the games some time in the future. If they succeed, I will be going
away on holidays to ANYWHERE to get away from them.

the olympic period in sydney was a great time, it will probably be remembered as a period when we
were our most neighbourly our transport systems really worked for a short time, i wonder why it
couldn t continue, i suppose we forget how to be humane to each other.
Whats the Olympics?
Saw it advertised the other day on TV, is it a bit like Big Brother?
Not really into that shit if it is.
Not a massive fan, but do enjoy the fringe events. Like the Greco Roman Wrestling, Trampolining, Synchronized Diving, Handball etc. Great to see some
sports we don't normally hear anything about.
And Yogie...tell the young fella from Adelaide who is competing for Australia in Trampolining that he is a professional, when he works 8 hours a day
in a cafe and trains for 4-8 hours. Not all sports attract the sponsorship $$ and that is the beauty of the games, where we get to see the true
amatuers perform.
BTW....swimming sucks!
