How to fix scratched DVD's and CD's
GTMac - August 12th, 2008 at 08:43 AM

For those of you who have kids especially Im sure Im not alone. But just valued at least $400 worth of scratched DVD's that dont work or are annoying to watch.

Yesterday I came across and bought a gadget from Dick Smith that repairs light to medium scratches in disks. Looks like the old small portable CD players and it cost me $19.95. There are 2 changeable pads inside, one for repairing that has a repair cream and one for cleaning with a cleaning spray.

Works a treat as those so far I have tried the repair on are now 100%.

You can also repair CD's and DVD's using a soft cloth and some toothpaste... loads of info on google about it.
And yes, it works well. :)

Our civic video had a buffing machine and you could pay them to buff your dvd/cds.

Will it fix the ones the kids have broken in half?

I bought a 'kit' long ago. It consisted of a cloth, and a eye dropper sized bottle of polish. Just looked like regular car polish to me. But it worked, not that I have had much of an issue with that sort of thing. Someone should try a Kitten/Turtle/Meguirs repair kit on a scratched disc that isnt really an issue to throw away.

Thats where I saw the big prof. machines but they didnt want to do it or even charge for it as they would have people coming all the time for repairs.
