You are not alone.I recently sold a 64 beetle to an eleven y.o. club member for $200 in going order. Since he picked it up over Easter he has replaced the seats, painted it (brush job only, but looks good), replaced the bumpers and generally has tidied it up and apart from a thing called a license he drives it along the laneway behind his fathers place and has a ball. Owes him $260 finished and paid for with his allowance. Dont give up. His dad reckons it is the best thing that has happened to him as it builds character as well as a vw. volma1

good story volma, and thanks for the help out empi... thanks all so much, I am building on abudget so i am trying to score the little things if you understand... i have recently picked myself up another 63 VW for $100 it is Rotted inside and out, but it goes, so i should be able to use the gearbox, pedals, ect.

good to hear of other youngens getting into the VW scene, i unfortantly thought i could only "really"be into cars after i was old enough to drive one :( sooo many wasted years :(

Che Castro - June 4th, 2003 at 07:28 PM

yeah i got my 63 bug when i was 18 a lil over a year ago and went from not knowing how to change the oil to rebuilding the engine, brakes and now a chassis.

we'll all be here to give u help, advice and some laughs :)

moonlite6t6beetle - June 5th, 2003 at 12:31 PM

thanks again, i really appriciate all you guys helping out a young dubber, thanks so much for being apart of my rebuild.

just so i can let you know exactly what i am doing, i am building a 1966 VW Beetle to merge the difference between Volkswagen and Hot Rod, my having a low, wide, with centerline rims VW i think I can acheive this look, yet i am on such a budget it is becoming increasingly difficult... i was just curious at the moment if anyone has any FULL, WHOLE windows, let me know so i may be able to buy them off....

Thanks V much

Welcome moonlite6t6beetle.
If only we had this site when I was 14. If only there was a thing called 'The Internet' when I was 14. Hang on! I wish I was interested in VW's when I was 14. So many wasted years. Ask away!!!! You may get many varied answers, ranging between yes and no. So go to it!

moonlite6t6beetle - June 17th, 2003 at 07:40 PM

hey guys just curious if anybody has a specific bolt i am after, on early beetles where the front suspension bolts into the chassis, i was curious if anyone knows where to find a spare, one of mine is bent and needs re-placing...

If you have one, or no someone who has please let me know.

wish i had your determination at such a young age...i didnt ever think i could own a car at your age let alone have two. I just had to settle for watching my father drive, and asking questions.
