as my old mate paul used to say....SCUMBAG!
amazer - June 4th, 2003 at 08:24 AM

Today, being the last wednesday of the semester, I made a big effort to get to uni on time. Got out of bed nice n early at 7am! 5 to in fact. Even had time for breakfast.

Things were going well. Until its discovered that some %$#@% %$#@% %$#@# has busted the lock on my lancer and took the wifes CD's AND the face off the CD player.

My only consolation is they will be throwing the CD's away, I'm sure the music wont be to their taste. No covers either so they cant even sell them. Just one of those wallet things.

The annoying bit is they took the CD face. Just be downright annoying.

HotRodMatt - June 4th, 2003 at 08:42 AM

bastards!

One of the guys in our club had his T3 Dual cab broken into on a Thursday night. Nothing taken. Then Friday night they came back took his tacho, stereo, speakers, interior lights (What the?) and a few other things... only consolation was they brought tools so didn't break anything prying bits out.

amazer - June 4th, 2003 at 10:23 AM

They should have broken into the kombi next to it as well. Exact same system, better music (in my opinion).

Whoever ripped into the T3 must also own a T3. *looks around the forum with suspicion* :P

why is it that robbers always take usless crap like the CD player face will do them no good and more than likley they wont like the music they are soooo dumb

baybuscamperkid - June 4th, 2003 at 04:40 PM

its a little concerning if these people know their way around vdubs! luckily theres nothing valuable in my bus at the moment and the only person who has seen it is Col!

amazer - June 4th, 2003 at 04:52 PM

has anyone had to replace a CD facia? What do they cost? I'm wondering if I should go out and remove the CD player all together. If they come back and break up the dash I will be rather annoyed. Maybe I should take it out and leave it next to the car.

KruizinKombi - June 4th, 2003 at 05:08 PM

Ryan, you think that just because I'm the only person who has seen it makes you safe? :P

Honestly though, I'd hate it to happen to me, so I've never even contemplated doing it to somebody else. It's amazing how many people out there don't think that way though. :(

S.O.B's!!!!

You can get another stereo face.
Strathfield car radios or someone similar should be able to hook you up.
Dont leave it for em...

Robo - June 4th, 2003 at 07:58 PM

Yeah DO IT, leave it next to the car, and hook it up to 240V then borrow someones bulb powered slug gun and get some rock salt to load it with, let em have it, then when their down and out, take them out to the local dog pound and chuck em in with the meanest looking pit bull.
Dead Set SCUMS!
Rob.......

kombi_kid - June 4th, 2003 at 08:50 PM

bad luck dude!!!
cheers
rhys
p.s. u can get new faces

jenz58 - June 4th, 2003 at 09:03 PM

Chris, not good:(

Not the sort of thing you ever want to face first thing in the morning or ever, it's a horrible feeling to be robbed. Have had the house broken into once :eek

*Jen breaths a sigh of relief that she is not a suspect as all the way down here in Melb. and would never steal anyways, but drives Type 3*

Should be able to get a new face for stereo but never looked or priced them

Hope you didn't have an exam or anything today, that would have made day worse

type3kid - June 4th, 2003 at 09:14 PM

that sux man, sorry to hear
i agree with robo, don't be nice bout it

helbus - June 4th, 2003 at 10:27 PM

Years ago I had the cassette player busted up in the EH. The amatures couldn't get it out, the wrecked the threads on the knob shafts!
Took all my tapes - Skid Row, Meatloaf, Metallica etc.
I became a changed man.
I got a haircut, started a CD collection, got a more diverse range of music, and never parked the car on the street again overnight.
I have always since had removable CD faces in all vehicles, and always take it out overnight, even in the driveway.

Robo - June 4th, 2003 at 10:36 PM

Yeah My EH got done over too, all my tools in the boot, they stole the car when I finally finished doing it up, they wouldn't have been after the radio in that one, it didn't have one! spent close to ten grand on it, I was 19 years old and it wasen't insured.

In the end KARMA wil decend on these buggers ( no pun intended) I just love Karma. solves so many problems in life.:alien

amazer - June 5th, 2003 at 10:42 AM

NRMA wont cover the CD player cos I didnt tell them I had it fitted.

The excess is $450 plus losing the no claim bonus is a real kick in the groin so looks like I'll be shelling out for the lot.

So I have to get my own CD player. The cost of 20 odd CD's @ 25 - 30 bucks each. Plus whatever the lock/handle costs + re keying it.

I'm not too worried about things except having to shell out money I dont have. On top of an unexpected trip to Vicland 3 weeks ago it has killed the financial situation. Here comes another mortgage redraw. Things could have been worse. The door doesnt need any panel beating. The ignition lock isnt busted. There was nothing real important in the car. Hey they werent even my CD's they were the wifes. The lack of a Norah Jones (or whoever she is) CD wont cause me any loss of sleep. Just less money for VW stuff now.

waltermitty - June 5th, 2003 at 05:33 PM

Slim chance but if your CD is a sony explod I have a spare that you are welcome to. Let me know(I got a replacement one after loosing my first then found it again latter).MITCHELL:cool:.

jenz58 - June 5th, 2003 at 06:25 PM

Excesses to pay can be a lot:jesus

Do you have a CD burner? Borrow from friends the CD's you want and burn, it will be a cheaper option than replacing ever one.

Chris, don't know Norah Jones, that's sad:(

You're kidding right. Here you go, MP3's:)

amazer - June 5th, 2003 at 07:24 PM

I know who she is, just wasnt sure I was getting her name right. I'm not upset by the loss of that CD. As far as I know none of 'MY' cd's were in that car. I guess I wont know until I go looking for one that is missing.

PS it was a clarion something or other. No big deal for me cos the same system is in my kombi. I can swap depending on what car I am in. Not being very sympathetic for 'missus' am I. :P
