Terminator 2 no cars but the best truck vs motorbike chase there is. But then again i'd vote for it as best movie ever:thumb:D

zac_smits - June 4th, 2003 at 09:27 PM

As a kid I remember watching the john candy, cannonball run movies. they were so much fun. recently rented a copy of cannonball 2, where at the start the bounce a lamborghini across a pond. very cool. the fast and the furious, and gone in 60secs, is also very good.
and last but definately the best................. a big round of applause, for the winner........................HERBIE!!!!!!!!!

You've all left out Herbie!!!! :o

Menangler - June 4th, 2003 at 10:12 PM

What about that Aussie classic, Running on Empty. early 80's I think.

Had a blind dude who owned a black 2 door '57 Chevy, who drove it at night in the desert!!!??mmmmmm.

vw_carrera - June 4th, 2003 at 10:17 PM

I'm with 356, Ronnin!
and you can't go past the car chase in Bullet and there's an Aussie film Running on Empty (schit movie but great car scene's, especially the '57 Chev).
Cannon Ball Run was a take off from Gumball Rally (which I first saw when I was seven in the back seat of my parents oval in the Clayton drive thru!)
And there's the original Gone in 60 seconds which came out in the late '70's. A yellow Mustang being chased throughout the whole entirity of the movie.

KruizinKombi - June 4th, 2003 at 10:24 PM

Sorry Robo, I missed that. I stand corrected. :thumb Zac also included Herbie, so I don't know what I was thinking. I think I was distracted by Jo's (BB house) butt in those 'pyjamas'. ;)

Herbie - June 4th, 2003 at 11:31 PM

Apart from the Painfully obvious choice for me, which I have several versions of each except herbie rides again, only a copy,

I am a huge Back to the future fan which must grade as a car flick,I have a bit of a collection of car movies that include all the back to the future series and
running on empty, mad maxs, the original 1974 gone in sixty seconds, Christine, coupe de ville, Catch me if you can,And the original italian job
I also have a copy of DUDU the Superbug that was the german answer to Herbie.

I do remember the cars that ate paris but havent seen it for many years.

I would love a copy of bullit, Vanishing Point, American Grafitti, Malcom, stone {bikes},Cannonball runs
although not all strictly CAR Flicks I think they are memorable for the cars that feature in them.
I also wish I could remember the name of the film I saw years ago that I cant remember the name of, It was about a guy who owned a beautiful gold mercedes which he was very proud of and attached to, he had decided to go back to his home town and with his beautiful gold mercedes to show everyone what a success he had become from the rag dressed kid he was, The movie followed his journey which along the way saw the slow destruction of his car so when he finaly got there his car was a rolled and totally stuffed very dirty Merc. It really touched a few nerves reguarding the love between a man and his car. I think the movie was italian but european for sure with subtitles.

Kafer Lover - June 4th, 2003 at 11:39 PM

I always love the early Bond Aston Martins, yummy.
The Bourne Identity had a pretty good mini chase, reminiscent of the original italian job. pretty cool.
2 Fast 2 Furious looks like its got some good action, the shorts look heaps better on the big screen than on TV though.
