I have another question! Sorry, I know I'm full of them at the moment... This is a 'not from round here' one:
We looked at a Beetle that was registered in ACT until November, is that a big drama? Would we have to get a new rego in NSW straight away?
We're not sure if we're going to buy it but it seems in good condition so we're going through possible down sides. Being sensible, honest guv!
you would have to transfer the rego into your name, so if you did not live in the ACT or had say an investment property there then you would have to
rego it in NSW................to do that it will need a Blue slip and all the other crap associated with registration of a new vehicle.
Depends on the seller also, they may be fine with you leaving it in there name......BUT I doubt it !
It's not a problem at all as long as you get a current registration paper, and purchase receipt that corresponds to the engine and chassis no. (this
no. is under that back seat in the middle) on the vehicle and it passes a nsw safty check.
Craig knows someone that does blue slips. No Worries if its a good car.
Yeah the blueslip place I know makes you jump through hoops though...................but I guess thats what you want, at least you know the car is
100% roadworthy then !

Unfortunately you are buying a car from a different state, so in this case its not really possible.
If the car is a good buy, and is roadworthy (for NSW standards) then the blue slip process is certainly less painful then spending the next couple of
months trying to find what you want tin NSW !!
You want to make sure all the numbers match
Make sure the number stamped on the frame under the rear seat matches the ones on the rego papers.
If it has a ID plate (on most later beetles) make sure thay match as well
As well as the body numbers make sure the engine number matches the rego papers
Ok, so lots of numbers and stuff to check...
Can't work out if it's better to find out all that stuff or keep looking at the moment. Guess that's all stuff that you need to check when buying
anyway...?
get them to supply a nsw blue slip as its only a hop skip and a jump to queenbean or nsw as a matter of fact..
