darren-h - September 9th, 2008 at 07:54 PM

Remember the "australia made" sticker! the original one with the boomerang does any body know if they are still around? would love to get hold of one!

darren-h - September 9th, 2008 at 08:04 PM

Thanks for that, did not realise they where water transfers!

LUFTMEISTER - September 9th, 2008 at 10:22 PM

they are still used on the 44 gallon drum seals we get a work (emblem not water transfer) They started fitting them late 61 early 62 I think. experts? Was thinking of getting a tattoo with the emblem with my birth date around the edge.

68AutoBug - September 9th, 2008 at 11:22 PM

Yes, back then all transfers were water backed
and usually applied to the inside of the glass..

and they were a pain to use....
they broke up very easily...

Aussie beetles had them on the back window..

I don't remember if Holdens and Falcons had them??

the best stickers/transfers etc are the static ones
that You put on the inside of a window and they stay there... but you can take them off at any time and reuse them over and over ..
From memory You apply them with water to get all the bubbles out etc...

I suppose no one really wants a sticker/sign etc to last for ever.... lol

darren-h - September 10th, 2008 at 05:37 PM

I am going to talk to our printers, see if they can do something,
I have almost finished the red aust 6 volt coil sticker, just some final touches to finish up.

http://www.decalpaper.com/category-s/2.htm

or find a local supplier (model/hobby shops may carry this kind of thing).

LUFTMEISTER - September 10th, 2008 at 08:56 PM

Picture of sticker on page 26 of Volkswagens in Australia. Sticker had white border, no writing. Put me down for some if you make them. :tu:

barls - September 10th, 2008 at 09:12 PM

try contacting warb on the forum, he made all my stickers

Joel - September 11th, 2008 at 07:49 PM

darren-h - September 11th, 2008 at 09:44 PM

Nice pic Joel, spoke to printers today looking good! but to keep price down were trying to find a ready made sticker ie same size,
and one that can go on the inside. The art work is apparently easy!

BrisDubba - September 11th, 2008 at 10:41 PM

I have a sign machine that can make them, but is heaps easier if the artwork is done - anyone have a high resolution image available - would be bugger all to make...

Cheers

Peter

trying to hunt one down, but no luck so far.

darren-h - September 12th, 2008 at 04:44 PM

Hi, will probably have these stickers sorted out next week for whoever is interested!

57 Cal look - September 15th, 2008 at 02:37 PM

there is a green & gold sticker that pre dates the red & blue one, you have been talking about... i know the guys in the Enthusiasts club here in SA are looking at makeing a repo of that one.

Ill get some more details, and get back to you.

VWCOOL - September 15th, 2008 at 02:44 PM

Never seen a green and gold one on a VW...?

But there were some green and gold 'made n Australia' stickers and logos etc used in the 1980s on Holdens and Akubras etc

And Brocky had a nice triangular red, white and blue Aussie flag one on the back of the first HDT Commodores in 1981. I think it was 'Advance Australia'?

VWCOOL - September 26th, 2008 at 05:01 PM

I have found a supplier who can do a close reproduction of the Boomerang logo: it will be a sticker (not decal) on a white background but is applied to the inside of the window glass

PM if interested...

theis one is older than the green n gold thats only about 10 to 15 years old

the blue n red is from the 60s

darren-h - September 28th, 2008 at 06:48 PM

Yep , its the 60,s one that looks the best! I have been given the name of a person who may have them in repro form!
If not, my printer should have a sample this week.

warb - September 28th, 2008 at 08:18 PM
