I was talking to a friend and he told me about a show from the US called monster garage. They took a split and made it a racer, sort of lost its beetleness but still looks sexy.

The show is hosted by Jesse James who I think made his name building bikes (and marrying Sandra Bullock) They turn all sorts of vehicles into something out of the ordinary. Usually they just make stupid pointless stuff like an ice cream van that could turn into a riot van complete with water cannon, but the split they did was cool. The team who did it was like a who's who of California's VW fraternity

One another episode they did an amphibious new beetle where the propeller was powered by an aircooled engine in the boot
