hey,

On the weekend i was a bit of a dumb arse and lost my keys for my type 3.
anyway, I wanted to find out the best way to get my car going, should i change all the locks and ignition or try tracking down the key codes and having new keys made?

any help would be great

thanks

and you don't have spares.....

I don't either.... lol

I have four different keys for doors ignition and engine cover plus another one for the lockable glove box

I have bought solenoids for the door locks so I can use a remote to open the doors...

when i ever get around to it..... lol

Lee

PS: My keys have the numbers stamped on them... lol
same as the lock numbers...

I've got a spare key for mine, trouble is I keep it on the key ring with the original. DUH!

are all the locks keyed alike?
the door handles are only one screw to remove and have the key code stamped on them
trouble is tho after 35+ years the handles get broken and changed

so the surefire way is to get the code off the igntion barrel and a locksmith can make up a key on the spot but it can be a PITA to remove

u can take the door lock barrel to a lock smith and get a key made but it will take abit longer if they have to pull apart to get a code for the key

I lost mine in the street once and had a locksmith come out to the car and cut keys for it on the spot (it did cost $65 for the callout though) but at the time I had different keys for door and ignition and he configured so I only had to use one key....he didn't ask to see rego papers or anything...
