Hey cool pics everyoe, wish i was there, ws stuck fixing another kombi for a fella (Glen with com61 number plates) at the Pass after a surf, then got stuck in traffic in Byron, so decided to hit the markets, then got stuck in the people traffic at the markets, then still got stuck in traffic trying to get out of Byron :-)

anyways, what was the fastest combi ??? & was the black one in the pics that rotary powered one that was at Valla?
cheers & good stuff

Sides - October 6th, 2008 at 07:46 PM

Yeah - the black one is Aaron's 20B rotary powered Kombi... just the signage on it has changed since Valla.

RISKYBUG - October 6th, 2008 at 07:59 PM

rose - October 6th, 2008 at 08:08 PM

Great pics as I didn't get to take many over the weekend as I was having to much fun drag racing. I won a trophy for fastest female. Thanks to all the event organisers it was the best weekend. Can't wait till next year and we got home safe.

Wait till you see the video of a 4 foot wheel stand that went to 1/4 track!
Awesome power display!
6.89 @102 was one run I saw...it may have gone quicker.

66deluxe - October 6th, 2008 at 08:09 PM

Trans is from a late model 997 porsche G67..... Cant remember exact number, as i asked him yesterday after he smoked a subaru powered kombi.

theres list off all entrants and engine sizes in the warwick thread in drag racing forum

good on team china that was classic
bug was still 6 volt even
and the matching sqaure back with the datto engine had some mean cobwebs in there LOL

68AutoBug - October 6th, 2008 at 10:08 PM

Congratulations Rose

Just think If You took the bumpers OFF You might have gone faster...

at least you drove there and back IN the car Rose...

many didn't...

I'd like to know what classes there are etc
a single port 1600 auto isn't that fast .... lol

Maybe i'll have to practise... lol

and good to see you had no breakdowns etc...

No rain up there??

Rained most of the weekend in Scone...

Lee

11CAB - October 6th, 2008 at 10:20 PM

Hey Lee, you dont need to be fast to win......just REALLY consistent......

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - October 6th, 2008 at 10:20 PM

Aaron was the fastest Kombi by far. 6.8 something pass then I think I ran the 2nd quickest with a 11.54. The suby powered buses were running between 11.7 and low 12's consistantly. Splitty with 1776 was running 12.0-12.3's from memory. Would of been good to run all the buses together but Vw's with other engines were all in their own class and myself and the Splitty had to run against all other air cooled VW's. One run i had i got a 3.8 second head start!!

Craig Hughes and I had a lil battle going on with the rat bug. He got me in qualifying with me jumping the light playing some mind games then in racing on sunday last round i got him with a killer light (.411) and I beat him to the line. think he might have miss shifted or something. so score was 1 all!!!

VWMA Editor - October 6th, 2008 at 11:15 PM

Just a quick post - I've got a magazine deadline this week. I'll add in more detail and results from the weekend over the next few days.

Great event. Thanks to all who attended the weekend. Even though there's a fair bit to organise to get it all happening, it's all worth it when you see everyone havin' a good time.

The rat bug broke into the eights for the first time, with the best run of 8.922@78.40mph on Sunday in competition, which was a win against Crazy Col.

Yeah, I missed a gear. Seeing that nice shiny bus :lol:heading into the distance and I didn't grab 2nd cleanly. The car is still hopping a bit - I need to re-think the set-up.

Troy's .401 - if I had a dollar for every time he told me that on Sunday I might make a buck out of this whole thing yet!!
