Does any one know how much fuel a1954 oval square type fuel tank holds versus athe later shape ones in the 1957 ovals
Regards
RJ
the one in my 57 oval is 40 litres... dont know what the earlier ones are tho
they hold 40 liters or 8.8 imperial gallons all the same
reading from the instruction hand book
I don't think my 56 holds 40ltrs. As I nearly ran out and it only had about 1cm of fueil in the bottom and I was pushing to get 32ltrs in it.
all bugs after 60 are 40L cept supers theyre 45L
manual says 42 but from empty mine takes 45L to fill
the earlier ones look like they would amost hold more with that huge buldge in the top
doubt u would need a long range tank with 36 ponies under the decklid tho
mine definitely does as i measured it when i had it out last.
I think you will find the older beetles hold 30ltrs or 35What do i now iam just a dum ass just like the rest us plus you think rose would know one DER
yeah, i've pushed mine in the station and couldn't get over 35 L (mid 60's).............and yes, i've been told they're 40L, but not a chance
IMHO
on another note, when i first did my one piece f'glass front, i used a land rover radiator overflow tank for fuel, it held 1.4L, i got a bigger tank
after running out of fuel for the 34th time..........the newie held about 8L, man i was the dude then
1.4 ltrs thats extreme! so you reverse out the driveway turn onto the road then drive straight to the fuel station. no stopping for maccas no red lights and hope you dont have a headwind. very novel aproach to keep global warming at bay. think globaly act locally, top effort daimo.
yep i could get from Nambucca to Valla, then straight back...................well sometimes..................put up with it for a month or two maybe, held like 70 odd cents worth of fuel (long time
ago), one tank you could truely fill up with coins from the
ashtray.
the novelty of lifting off the one peice front dissapeared very quickly.
eventually i got a big one rolled up out of aluminium, and couldn't believe it cost $50 and i had put it off for so long...........went on a road
trip to Tamworth as celebration
