What is a dub really worth....
wildfire - October 22nd, 2008 at 03:33 PM

I suppose you could ask the same question how long is a piece of string ? Only reason I ask is, Have been looking on Ebay at dubs morning and night for a couple of years, I like to call it my little hobby, my family calls it my addiction lol

Some of the prices are warranted and some are not. It just seems of late that the ones that I'm seeing are just not worth it. Some might say I payed too much for my dub but to me she's worth alot more, but sentimentality doesn't pay for anything does it ?

there woth what your willing to pay so whats the one you have

When you're buying, a car is worth what you're willing to pay.... when you're selling, it's worth what someone else is willing to pay.... and unfortunately with cars you very rarely get your money back....

Well except for all those people sitting on mint condition GTHO's that is !!!

I have a 68 dub in good condition, new motor, gear box still under warranty, goes like the clappers, I gave the girl who was selling it $500 less than what she wanted. Sides : thats so true, you never ever get your money back unless they are in mint condition. funny tho I was offered $5000 for Chilli a few weeks ago, a step up from what I paid

Well if you've paid less than 5k for something in good nick and rego'd then you've probably done pretty well... and with a new motor and rebuilt box it sounds like the car was thrown in for free !!!

Are we going to see some pics ???

vw54 - October 22nd, 2008 at 06:22 PM

so why are u continuing to look at prices ???

helbus - October 22nd, 2008 at 08:25 PM

Under $4k getting a good 'non-problematic rust' body, strong engine and gearbox is good luck. It would still need probably $1k of mech work done and be looking at a respray still.

No work required would be up around $8k+

It all depends on what your interpretation of good is.

Have been trying to put some on since I joined yesterday to no avail.. I'll work it out though, happens when your trying to do 7 things at once ( it's called being a mother )

It will also explain my future states of confusion

54 : to answer your question I just love dubs, so I look and I look and I look and I like seeing what prices people want and what others are prepared to pay etc,

helbus: Yep she does need a respray most of her looks ok the other parts blech, but all in good time, like I said I'm in no hurry although when I have extra cash, hmm make that cash I would like to get her resprayed. Also my interpretation of good may not be what any one else's is.. There's that piece of string again .....:D

Sorry Marcus - not biting - am off to Indy for the day, red shirt and all...

;)

To resize photos using XP or Vista the easiest way is to select them in Windows Explorer, Right click and choose Send To -> Email Recipient then a dialog will pop up asking if you want to resize them. Pick the size you want and you're done.
