hey all,
someone took a bite outta my beetle and left some damage to the front before driving off.
The bumper is bent away from the body of the car and I cant bend it back using my own strength or by pushing the bumper against a wall and using the
car to bend it back.
So basically is this going to cost a lot to replace/repair?
Any help/advice much appriecated.

for what it is worth
I repaired this
to this
With not much more than a spanner and hammer
You probably wont be able to repair the bracket but i reckon you could belt the bumper into a "looks good from 10 feet" type of bumper
Looks like an original German bumper so worth having a go
Bumper looks too rusted for a German one...
although the chrome would be rusted if it was a brazillian one.. must be German
You could get all the bits you need from a swap meet...
If You use longer bolts - Cuphead - on the bumper
You can probably pull the bracket into line
if its not too far out of shape..
You are lucky the thing that hit You was going past your car and NOT the other way...
remember - You can drive without the bumper and brackets .. just screw the number plate to the body...
the brackets are easy to come by - Left & Right are different-
You would need to replace the Guard - fender -
just unbolts... although it looks like you live near the coast
lot of rust there...
so the nuts u that hold the fender/guard on will be difficult to take off.. throw the old nuts away...
use zinc plated new nuts.. cheap..
You may be able to find used White Guard -
the Left hand bracket may be bent too...
but can probably be straightened out...
those brackets are pretty tough..
You can get later brackets which are thinner...
looks like your beetle is a 1302S Superbug... 1971-72
cheers
Lee
Hope all ends up well and you get it fixed
