hi guys, had the car sitting around for a while and my dad is contemplating selling it. my flavour is more the turbo jap car scence, so i really have no idea what its worth.

its a 71' superbug, badge across the back says volkswagen S. everything mechanical on it is brand new. completely rebuilt motor, new clutch, brakes etc. only problem is it was all done 4+ years ago and has been sitting around since then. the engine builder started it after he built it, it was then taken back home, put in the car, and hasnt been started since, it really is still brand new.

the cars parking spot will soon be home to a granny flat, the car has to be moved, so might try and start it and get it going but who knows, will probly just end up getting a tilt tray to move it.

car has been in the family for ~30 years i think, hasnt been registered since '86. everything on the car is original, or its orignal counter part is still sitting around somewhere, although i think nearly all original parts are on it at the moment (bought some aftermarket parts but i dont think they ever went on). only thing i can think of is extractors and sports exhaust.

its not so much for sale at the moment, just wondering what its worth




















those second and third last were the worst rust spots i found on the car (only had a quick look though)

its everything you cant see that gives it value. Depends on how much rust is in the heater channels and floors and under the bonnet along with the condition of the steering and suspension. Maybe $200, maybe $2000. You'll get a lot more for it with a current rego sticker.

What ever the scrap guy would pay to take it away for them. That's all I would pay for it.

what ever someone is willing to pay for it.

Put it on ebay and start out at $1 with no reserve...just put "I reserve the right to stop the auction" in case it's not getting what you want.

Having a rag stuffed in the carby is not going to keep out moisture, so the engine work would need to be inspected.

I think everyones on the mark. They are dime a dozen these model bugs. The seventies models aren't as desirable unless its a bit special.

Is the motor new now, or new in 1986? If it was new in 1986, then moisture will have taken its toll on an engine that has not run. I have a Beetle the same year and model. 1302 is the technical model code. Running well in good mechanical condition with a current registration and roadworthy certificate, these models can fetch up to $4000. No reg, no RWC and not running it may be only $400

it always makes me laugh when people use words like New, Rebuilt and needs tilt tray in the same add.
