up the top menu bar is a search feature, its pretty kool theres been a fair few write ups on lowering beetles of all year models, just make sure your set the search featue to search from the begining good luck

To be honest its all about personal taste. Why not start with one spline, see how it looks, then decide if you want to go lower.
If you have the time, its worth just trying things over a few weekends.
